Title: 1841/1851 Census Look-Up - MUCH WENLOCK
Post by: jimed on Saturday 01 April 06 16:24 BST (UK)
Hello everybody.

Would someone be kind enough to do a look up for a BINNELL/BINNALL family for the given dates please in the Much Wenlock area?
I am looking for the parents of Richard Binnell/Binnall who was born c.1829 at Much Wenlock. He didn't marry until c.1860, so there is a possibility that he was still at home in 1851.

Thanks in anticipation.
jimed.

Hi Jean.

Thanks for your 1851 information. Almost certainly, the Richard Binnall in question is the first one you identified, as I know he was a butcher in later life.
Do I take it you have not got access to the 1841 census? I would dearly like to identify his parents.
Again, thanks for your time.

Kind Regards
jimed

Jean

Do you know the age of George Littleford the head of the family you quoted?
Only just noticed it was missing!

There were a large group of Binnalls living in Bridgnorth who kept the name Richard in the family. My ancestry on the 1841 census shows a Francis Binnall DOB 1793 having a son Richard Binnall c1831 who could well have been born in the Wenlock area. My grandfather (also a Richard Binnall & nephew to the Richard Binnall in question) had various jobs so did not follow in the Blacksmith trade of his great grandfather, in fact his parents moved to Cheltenham.

Hi jimed

There is this baptism in 1824 which would roughly fit with the 1851 census age of 26

Richd. BINNELL bpt. 24 June 1824 MUCH WENLOCK, parents: Daniel BINNELL and Mary

Hi again

Think this is the family in 1841 Much Wenlock, but the image is so faded I can't see it much, even inverting the colours but I can't see Richard

Ann BINNALL 60
Daniel BINNALL 45
Mary         "        15    all born in County

Class: HO107; Piece: 928; Book: 18; Civil Parish: Much Wenlock

To be really sure of Richards Fathers name/occp you really need the M/C to Emma.

Richard from Census is born;
1851 c 1825 as found by jean
1861 c 1827 Astley Abbotts
1871 c 1833 Bridgenorth
1881 c1829 Much Wenlock

Ok, forget that; saved you 9 pounds!

MARRIAGE;
30 December 1856
St. Georges, Wolverhampton, Stafford, England
Richard Thomas BINNALL, age 27, Butcher, Father DANIEL Binnall, Labourer
Emma MORRISS, Spinster, Father EDWARD Morriss, Sawyer
