Title: 1841 and 1851 census look up
Post by: adicol on Wednesday 26 April 06 21:37 BST (UK)
Hi all,

Please please can someone please look for a Thomas and Ann Stephenson in the 1841 census.
Thomas was a butcher, and would have been quite old, as he married Ann in 1804.
He is showing as alive in 1853 when his son John married.
Thomas married Ann in Brancepeth, Durham, but John was born in the Easington area and married there, so I assume they resided there.
Thomas was born in Egglestone, and Ann in Elwick Hall.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Colleen

Hi Colleen ;D

the 1841 census does not give relationships or actual places of birth - it simply states whether or not the person was born in the county and gives an estimate of their age, plus their occupation.

I have had a look at the Easington area and found 3 entries for Thomas Stephenson. Their birth dates are c1816, 1832, 1838, so not old enough to be the Thomas you are looking for.

I did not find an Ann Stephenson in the Easington area.

There are several entries for John Stephenson in Easington with birth dates ranging from c1811 to c1841.

One of these could possibly be John but without knowing the name of his wife it's impossible to tell.

Regards
Darcy
