Hi

Just come across your message - I have Partridges from Darlaston in my tree. Hannah Partridge (1825-93) was my 3xg grandmother. Think I can trace her back to Isaac Partridge born c1714 in Darlaston.

Any connection?

Margaret

Margaret

Sarah Partridge 1814-1889 had parents Sarah (nee Partridge) from Darlaston and John Watson. They were married in 1798 and he was in the gunmakers trade. I do not have other details as yet, but I know that there were twins in the family. Do you have any other details?

I am related to the Partidges of Darlaston too! I haven't got my notes with me at the moment, but my grandmother was Elsie Nellie Partidge who was born in Sheffield, but whose ancestors were from Darlaston. I've got lots of details.

Hi Simon,

I'd love to find out if we are related. The Partridge's are such a large family, so I'm hoping to find definate proof of any relatives.
What info do you have?

Merry Xmas,

My grandmother was Nellie Elsie Partridge b.1903 in Sheffield (married Thomas Henry Rollitt in Sheffield). Died in Sheffield in 1968.

Her father was John ('Jack') Partridge b.1880 in Sheffield.

His father was James Partridge b.1835 in Darlaston. He married Mary Ditheridge in Walsall in 1859.

His father was Samuel Partridge b.1794 in Darlaston. He married Maria Pouton in West Bromwich in 1831. Samuel was a gun lock filer.

His father was Philip Partridge b.about 1765. He married Mary Bradley in West Bromwich in 1788.

Are we related? Where? I have more details about these people and some of their siblings.

Merry Christmas,
Simon  :)

I hope the above is of interest to you, I realise that some of the detail above my conflict with some of those who have contacted you previously. I too also have many supporting documents, Census, B,M,D's, probate and some Christening/Baptism records.

I would be most grateful to hear if you or anyone else who may have any information regarding furthering the knowledge of the family. My aim would, if its possible link the Partridge's to those of the Wishanger Manor in Wiltshire, dating back to the 11 hundreds.

Regards

Paul. :)

Hi

I realise this thread is very old now but I have not been looking at my tree a year yet and having read this I am confused and feel like I have slipped up and gone down a wrong road with my Partridges. somewhere.

I have a line coming from Briston area in Norfolk to Sheffield with one John Hardy Partridge 1836-1917, his son Charles Partridge 1857-1922 was my GGGrandfather m Martha Gregory (b Unstone 1858-1935)

Charles had lots of children
Sarah Ann Partridge 1876 - 1969 (I have photos of her)
Hannah Partridge b.1877
John Partridge b.1881 (My Dad remembers him as Jack)
Louisa Partridge b.1887
George Henry Partridge b.1888
Percy Partridge 1890 - 1960 (My Dad remembers him a a steelworker married Nellie?)
Alice Partridge b.1894
Florence Partridge b.1896
Lawrence Partridge 1899 - 1905
Frank Partridge 1900 - 1900
Their daughter Sarah Ann Partridge b1876 Whittington Moor was my Great Grandmother she was married twice William Henry Buxton and Frank Ferris

There seems to be no Darlaston/Gun connection John Hardy and Charles were farm labourers and seemingly came to work in the steel works.

Any help putting me on the right road would be greatly appreciated, unless I am not wrong!

Andy

Hello, I was beginning to think that I had made John Hardy up!

I have his parents (if I am correct)

Thomas Partridge 1797-1878 Wood Dalling, Norfolk
Elizabeth Hardy 1813-3rd March 1891 Thurning, Norfolk

Possible parents of Thomas

Robert Partridge no dates
Sarah Dyball I have seen it spelled Dybell and others
Only info is that they married Salthouse, Norfolk, England Jan 2 1781

What do you know and what is your connection, I would be very excited to find out more on this line. I have JHPs wife Sarah Ann Rudd's line going back to 1767

JHP baptism https://www.dropbox.com/s/umo09ndc3wooov1/charles_partridge_baptism.png?dl=0

JHP 1861 Census https://www.dropbox.com/s/5dpe94ysnq7zak6/jhp3.PNG?dl=0

Thanks for replying.
No  you didnt make john hardy Partridge up. His son charles went to yorkshire. Charles was one of a large family.
I am not connected with partridge family.
They are connected with a house history in Briston  in whtich i am interested.
Some partridges were baptised at Brizton methodist church. Others at All saints Briston.
A Robert Partridge had some cloth stolen from an oouthouse in st George Colgate Norwich in 1782.
Anda john an Thomas Partridge were farmersin 1802 in norfolk. See norfolk chronicles.

I would love to know all the information you have on them.

Charles was my Great Great Grandfather, married Martha Gregory, Unstone nr Sheffield. They had several children one of which was Sarah Ann my Great Grandmother photo of her at the link with Winifred Ferris and Samuel Barker my Dads parents

There must be people out there with knowledge of the family given it's size. I have many contacts all over the world for other branches of my tree and knowledge has been easy to obtain.

Norfolk record office has  a manuscript on the Partridge Family of Kings Lynn Norfolk.
From 1576 to 1952.thereRe 97 files
It  is numbered Mc 55/72.

It would seem one Henry Partridge of London 1604-1666 purchaseda manor of Lowbrook in Berkshire ( a county not far from London) and from there moved to Norfolk.
I cannot view these files at Norfolk a live tofar away . And cannot travel but someone may have alreadyviewed them and could maybe help you

Here,s how the names go
Henry Partridge 1604- 1666
ditto   ditto.         To 1670
Ditto.  Ditto.  1671 to 1733
And his brother Robert166-1710
1692 to 1742
Henry Partridge1711-1793
Henry Partridge 1746-1803
1814-1815
Henry Samuel Partrige 1782-1858
William Luke Partridge 1819-1876
And Robert Partridge 1815-1878 and hs family
1849- 1952.
Familytrees 1576 to 1927
Poems
Songs
Portraits and photos 1783-1870
Miscellaneous docs
1548-1646
So if you link up with any of these well that would take you right back.
There were also Partridges at Holkham Hall Norfolk.

You just need some kind  Partridge living in Norfolk england to take a look at these files!!

Or may be ontact the Norfolk Record Office. Norwich England and see if they can help.
There would be charges for any photocopying etc which might be

I have a list of Charles siblings somewhere..
Have a look on Wiki tree as there are folk doing Partridge trees on there.
Alsolook on Partridge message boards.
