Title: Which Riding of Yorkshire?
Post by: Ticker on Monday 15 November 04 23:56 GMT (UK)
To get the most out of your posting, it is useful if it is posted on the correct board.  This isn’t as simple as it sounds as the boundaries of the old Ridings are not where you may expect.  The boundary between the East and North Ridings is particularly confusing.   For example, Scarborough on the East Coast is in the North Riding.

Information about the Yorkshire Ridings can be found at the website of the Yorkshire Ridings Society http://www.yorkshire-ridings.org.uk/

A searchable database of places and the Riding they fall into can be found at the Gazetteer of British Place Names http://www.gazetteer.co.uk/
