Title: St Andrew's, Alfriston
Post by: mnmilt on Friday 27 April 07 04:22 BST (UK)
Hi,
Can somebody confirm that there is a memorial plaque to Insp John Bodle, BSAP inside St Andrew's church in Alfriston.  If so, does it give any dates?

Regards

Mark

Hi,  I can have a look on Sunday if I remember!

Nag me if I don't get back to you.

In St Andrew's there is a list of those enrolled from the Parish of Alfriston to serve the King in the Great War.  It includes Insp John Bodle B.S.A Police and also Brigga. William Bodle C.M.G. Staff.  There is no separate plaque.

I then popped into the United Reformed Church and still no plaque for this John Bodle but a memorial to John Bodle '.... who departed this life September 18th 1835. Aged 69 years.  And of Molly his widow who departed this life September 21st 1836. Aged 72 years.'

If you send me a PM with your email address I will forward you photos.
