My ancestor Stephen SIMMONS was born 1829 Croydon. He was married to Ellen BRITTLE 12 February 1854 at the New Parish Church of St. James The Great, Bethnal Green, Middx. Stephen's parents were Charles Simmon(d)s c. 1786/91 and Elizabeth born c. 1791/96, (no surname for her), but she was poss. born Feltham, Middx. Would love to hear from SIMMON(D)S and BRITTLE Family.

I've been having trouble finding my Simmons family as well, my 4xG Grandfather William Simmons was born in Mitcham abt 1828, he married a Sarah, possibly in Southwark St George around 1845 as that's where all his children were born, then moved back to Mitcham after his wife died in 1866.

I would love more details if anyone has them, cant seem to find the marriage for william and sarah, which i assume was at Southwark, i have 7 children listed
Jane b. abt 1846
William b. abt 1848
Sarah b. abt 1851
Rosetta b. abt 1855
Ann b. abt 1856
Alfred b. abt 1861
John b. abt 1863
I have found them on the census reports but would also love to find the birth of my 3xG Grandmother Ann Simmons born abt 1856, the later census reports state her as born in Mitcham but she was born in Southwark, one of the earlier censuses state Dover Road, but i cant seem to find that in the Southwark area, would like to find the GRO for Ann's birth.

There are a number of potential marriages for William in that area:
Assuming that he was single in 1841 (?)
1842 March Newington 4/291 with a Sarah Gerrish on the same page
1843 March Lambeth 4/168 with a Sarah Elanor Bright on the same page
1846 June Lambeth 4/252 with a Sarah Mortimer on the same page.

Thanks Ashley, the first child was born about 1848 so it could be the last one, i'm going to try and get Ann's birth certificate that will solve it

From the list above you say that the first child was 1846.
It may be safer to get one of the birth certificates to find the mother's name - just because there is a Sarah on the page does not mean that William married her - there are 3 other men too!

Do you know where Stephen's father, Charles, was born?
My gggf James Simmons was born in Merstham in 1809 but his father William was from outside the parish. Merstham is a few miles south of Croydon. I wonder if there is a connection?
