Can anyone take a second look on census records for me.
I have Ann Cooke in Myddle married with her family from 1871 onwards.
She gives her age as being born 1843/44 on these census records and her place of birth is given as being Wem, except for 1891 when it states Myddle.
I am struggling to find her with her parents.
In 1861 she is in Harmer Hill aged 16, a servant.
Her marriage cert states her father is William Rogers, Labourer.
I have found one entry in 1851: HO107, Piece 1992, Folio 322, Page 40 but I'm not convinced it is my Ann. I have tried to find this family in 1841 to rule them out but cannot find them either.
A second pair of eyes would be great
Thanks Allie

Hi Pete :)
Thanks for that,
I have been looking through my notes to find out why I had discounted that baptism. I cannot remember if it was the father's occupation or later census records that ruled it out.
I'll keep hunting. :)
Hi Mum44
That is a possible. I'll look into that too.
Many thanks
Allie :)

Hi Allie
FreeBMD has an Ann Rogers, Wem , Sept Quarter 1843, Vol 18, page 197
It's the only one showing around those dates.

Thanks Gadget :)
I was hoping to find out her mother's first name for a ref check first.
I think I will order it and hope for the best.
One census entry has her place of birth as being Barkers Green, Wem, which could help if that is on the certificate.
She has a son John, in 1866, the year that she marries. He is said to be born in Ellesmere.
He is a complete mystery too.

The place of birth should be on the cert, Allie, but those early ones are a law unto themselves ::)
Can't see a John Cooke, Cook or Rogers for that year - problem is that not all were registered, if they were baptised :-\ I've got a few like that :(

Thanks for looking Gadget.
I have been trawling parish records for this family in so many areas lol
Its the only one of my GG Grandparents that I cannot get further back with. Can't have it all I suppose!

If it helps, I've been trying to find the bpt of my 3xgrt grandmother - a Mary Rogers - for 6 years. She says, Shropshire in one Census, Oswestry in another and Kinnerley in another. I have honed in on Kinnerley but the only bpt. around that time was a daughter of an attorney - now that doesn't fit at all :(
I'll look out for you while I continue to search :)
