I am researching my family tree and I have come up against a brick wall trying to find out about a couple of my ancestore
Thomas William Paulo Ellsey b 1813
Thomas William Paulo Place b 1854
Family stories say that these two were linked to the circus/acting/showman
but I canno tfind any records.
The name Paulo is not a family name and I was wondering if it was a stage name. Also family stories say that Thomas William Paulo Place was a clown called Boppo.
I have not found any real evidence of this.
Can anyone help.

try looking up the name Pauls as my g grandma was gracy paulo but i've found she was actually gracy pauls and it was circus family am stuck myself now though

also the proper name i have since found out was either butcher or baker xx

I was doing a google search relating to the Paulo's and it picked this thread on rootschat. I am not sure if someone has already given you this information, but here goes. Henry J Butcher (stage name Paulo; an acrobat) married Caroline Baker (real name possibly Prigg, a tight rope dancer) and their children were John Henry Butcher (Paulo) b.1861; Thomas James Butcher (Paulo) b.1864; Elizabeth A Butcher (Paulo) b.1866, Joseph William Butcher (Paulo) b.1867, Emma S Butcher (Paulo) b.1869. Henry B Butcher (Paulo) b.1873, Grace Butcher (Paulo) b 1875, Frank Stephen Butcher (Paulo) b.1878 and Caroline Maud Butcher (Paulo) b.1880.
Caroline Maud Butcher is my great grandmother. Frank Stephen Butcher's Family started the Paulo Circus which is still going today. Two weeks ago I was in Bristol and was fortunate enough to go and see the Paulo circus and meet the family and share some information on the family tree. The only information they have on Grace Butcher in the family tree printout is that she was born in 1875 and died in 1930. There is a lot more information on the other family members if you are interested.

hiya thanks yes i have got that info but not on gracys death Grace married my great grandad william peach so i am gracys great grandad and therefor your relative? i think i have contact with another member of family from ancestry site? i would love any info that you received in Bristol please that would be great also do you know anything bout william peach as am having great difficulty with that. thankyou xxxxxx

Do you have Grace Butcher and William Peach's marriage cert .... that would at least give you his age and fathers name and occupation?

no deb i cant find any record of their marriage am having a nightmare there with that i cant find record of williams birth all i've got is my grandas birth cert xxxxxxxx

these are births that I found with mother's maiden name BUTCHER ...there is none with Paulo

There are many William Peach births .... I'm afraid that the only way we could find him is if you order the marriage cert which will give us his age and father's name and occupation also it would confirm Grace's details aswell.
