Does anyone know about childrens home's in the 1920's and 1930's in Lincoln .
and if so how I would go about finding if my dad or his sibling's had a stay in them. ;)

Hi Eilleen
Possibly all you will ever want to know about the Workhouse http://www.workhouses.org.uk/index.html?Lincoln/Lincoln.shtml
My great-gran died there in 1943 (at which time it was Burton Rd Institution). As her home address was given as Moorland Crescent, I suspect it was perhaps in use as a hospital in those days.
Boys Home http://www.hiddenlives.org.uk/homes/LINCO01.html
My 1920's street plan has Lincoln and Lincolnshire Home for Girls on Belle Vue, Carline Road.
I guess you'll have to ask at the Archives - they'll probably know far more than anyone on here.

his son died the same year , but at Maud's terrace.

Why on earth do you go there? Fishing? I used to fish there occasionally.
I grew up less than 100 yards from Starmer's Pit - just across the railway in Anderby Drive.

Geoff,
We are , or rather the OH, is making the place , how should I put this ??? ???

I go along occasionally to see if no harm has come to him, ;D

We moved to Rookery Lane - just two doors away from the shops at the junction - in 1967, so we were practically neighbours ;)
-
Geoff,
Must have passed on the street ;D
Had the flat's acrossed the road from Stephenson's post office been built by the time you moved there ?
I only asked, because I was talking about the field that use to be there, but I could not remember when they built the flat's ::)

I'm not sure if they were there when we moved there in 1967. I was away at Uni till 1969.
It was Elsey House I think, named after Councillor Chuck Elsey (who worked with my uncle at Bucyrus).

I remember Mr Elsey, :)
I notice you must have got back from Uni, a little bit before I started work at S A Nobbs, ;D
I knew , I should have got an education ;D ;D ;D
