Hi can anyone help me? I am looking for any info. on this person. All I know is she was born in approx 1865 in Ironbridge . I have found her on the 1881 census as a servant in Lambeth, she is also on the 1891 and 1901 in Lambeth, where she is married to an Isaac Meadows. I have unable to find her in the 1871 census or on the IGI. Any help appreiciated. Thanks Wendy.

in the 1881 census her year of birth is earlier ???
1871 has Mary Lloyd b 1863; Mary A Lloyd b 1857 and Mary Ann Lloyd b 1868 all Madeley.
Her marriage certificate should give her father's name which may help to identify her.
best wishes

What is your 1871 ref, Heywood?
The Madeley one was a Mary Ann :(

There's also this one:
Alice Mary Lloyd, Wellington, June q, 1863, v. 6a p. 762
Too many other possibles - think the marriage cert route is the best way forward.

sorry about the delay gadget- lost wireless connection and had to restart ::)
1871 RG10; Piece: 2755; Folio: 13; Page: 19
Mary Ann Lloyd b 1868 but she is still with parents in 1881
1871 RG10; Piece: 2756; Folio: 22; Page: 39
Mary Lloyd 8 yrs - still with parents
1871 RG10; Piece: 2755; Folio: 11; Page: 16
Mary Lloyd b 1857
(If I recall the 1881 Lambeth one shows born 1859)
I think Wendy has already tried 1871 census and this just echoes your view that there are too many possibilities. Certificate is best for father's name.

I see what you mean:
1881 - aged 22 b. Ironbridge
1891 - aged 25 b. Shropshire (Isaac 24)
1901 - aged 36 b. Ironbridge (Isaac 34)
It is quite possible that she reduced her age to tie in with Isaac's :-\
-
an interesting one here:
1871 - RG10/2757 Folio 10 Page 13 - Broseley. Elesy *(?) Mary Lloyd, aged 13, b. Ironbridge. Elder sister, Alice. Father - Samuel.
*1861 - RG9/1858 Folio 111 Page 38 has her as Emily M :-\
-
I agree with the possibility of her reduced age- often seen.
Wendy- certificate needed ;)

Has Wendy got the marriage ref?
Nearest that I can find on FreeBMD is
St Saviour, Southwark, Dec q, 1890, vol 1d page 226
Alice Mary Lloyd and Alfred Meadows on same page ::) :-\ ???

oh heck ::)
I checked him in censuses and he is Isaac throughout. Their child though is Isaac A.
Then I looked in indexes - there is an Isaac Meadows St Olave \march 1890 - possible bride Mary Barber. ???
I was thinking that Wendy has birth certificates to work from (Isaac and Mary's children) - what do you think Wendy - all this dialogue is between me and Gadget and we know nothing :o :P :-X
-
Saw the Barber one and thought that it couldn't be correct.
So who are we looking for :-\

The other couple do seem to be married to each other in censuses so that Isaac Meadows presumably married Mary Barber.
Wendy - you have all the answers ;)

Hi there all of you and thanks for all of your replies. Sorry I have not replied before but been at work. I appreiciate all the work you have all been doing. I realised late last night that I should have been looking for Mary Barber and now you have come to the same conclusion. I don't remember now who gave me Lloyd. I did try to delete the message but obviously that didn't happen. I agree the marraige was 1890 at St Olave's I have found a possible for her father Joseph 4 Sept 1814 in Baschurch what do you think?

1881 - which you can view free has this one - a long way from Ironbridge and Camberwell!
1881 RG11; Piece: 5048; Folio: 113; Page: 40
26 Cookson Street Newcastle
Thomas Barber 40 yrs Encaustic tiler b Shropshire Ironbridge
Mary 40 yrs b ditto
Mary L 16 yrs b ditto
Joseph 14 yrs b Yorks Leeds

Thomas 10 yrs b ditto
Samuel 8 yrs b Northumberland Newcastle
James 4 yrs b ditto
1871 RG10; Piece: 2755; Folio: 33; Page: 19
she is indexed as Mary S but it looks a fancy 'L'
having difficulty finding them in 1891 but Mary (if it was her) would be married!

Free BMD December quarter 1864
Mary Louisa Barber
the whole family seem to have disappeared after 1881 census -
-
So Mary Alice Lloyd was really Mary Louisa Barber - well it figures I suppose. The last few threads I've been involved in have all had the requester put up the wrong info initially - one was10 years out and a different county but we canny Rootchatters usually get to the bottom of it in the end ::) ::) ::)
Hw on earth did you get the wrong name, Wendy?
I'm glad that it's sorted at last.
