The furthest back I can get is Mary Ann ? who married John Empson (b 1809) at Horsey - they had 4 children - Sarah, Henry James, William Arthur and Elizabeth - Henry James was my ex husbands great great grandfather born in 1845. I have the family living in Horsey until the 1871 census when they are found in Great Yarmouth - 1881 in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, 1891 back in Great Yarmouth and 1901 back in Gateshead (where they stayed)

There are also a few Empsons in Winterton which I think might be related to my Horsey ones.

Does anyone have any further info on this branch of the family?

Welcome to Rootschat.
Neither lindjemp or Camperman have been on Rootschat for a few years.
If they are still around and/or have the same email afress they will be notified of your post on this query.

I am not sure how far you have gone back with this Family but I think I have found a possible mistake in Trees.

EG from Trees;

Hi Linda - still have no more info on My 'Empsons'  Henry James - GGrandfather /Horsey m Rhoda - 6 children Daisy, Arthur, Horace, Florence, Gilbert & Donald -I am still in touch with Donald's son Geoffrey who is in his late 80's.  I do not think he is IT literate .Having read your message again I think I must be related to your ex husband.He must be from Daisy's family who moved to Canada.  My Grandmother was Florence. I have a photo of my 'Empsons' I can let you have a copy if you like.  Hope all is well with you.

Regards Liz xx

Hello
I found rootschat.com on a search for Empson in Gt Yarmouth.  I had a distant ancestor Violet May King who married Sidney Horace Empson 27 Jan 1931 in Holy Trinity & All Saints, Winterton, Norfolk, son of Sidney Empson and Julia George.  He was born Abt. 1907 in Winterton, Norfolk.

Violet May King, born Abt. 1907 in Winterton, Norfolk; died Abt. 1994. (John Frederick7, John Abel "Watson"6, John Derry5, Abel4, Abel3, Benjamin2, Jno1). Baptism: 31 Mar 1907, Winterton NFK.

Children
Valerie Empson, born 19 Jul 1938 in Winterton. (Violet May8 King, John Frederick7, John Abel "Watson"6, John Derry5, Abel4, Abel3, Benjamin2, Jno1).  She married (1) Leech.    She married (2) Leech.    She married (3) Geoffrey LEECH 06 Jun 1959 in Winterton, son of George LEECH and Marjorie HODDS.  He was born 12 Oct 1938 in Winterton.  Children of Valerie Empson and Leech.  Andrew Leech & Karen Leech.

Russell Empson, born 1935 in Winterton. Baptism: 24 Mar 1935, Winterton.  Children of Russell Empson and Dack are: Lesley & Neil.

If you have any further information I would be grateful for a response, as i'm mapping out the Kings from Winterton on Sea/Caister on Sea and the offshoots who have gone to Australia, Canada and further afield in England.  Cheers Chris
