Hi
The 1851 census of Tivetshall has the following;
Thomas Scoulding 37 Ag Lab Tivetshall
Elizabeth ,, 32 Aslacton
William Woodcraft 12 Tivetshall
James Scoulding 10 ,,
George ,, 8 ,,
Mary Ann ,, 6 ,,
Robert ,, 4 ,,
Susanna ,, 1 ,,
I suggest then that you look for the marriage of Thomas Scoulding and Elizabeth Woodcraft in Aslacton or Tivetshall in 1839-41. I may be wrong but it looks that your William was born outside wedlock but took the family name at some stage. He was put down as son in the census.
Best wishes
Teddy

I have some information on this family if you are still interested.

Hi there, I know a lot of time has passed since the original post here, but I was wondering if anyone could possibly give me any more information about Thomas and Elizabeth Scoulding/Skoulding - they were my 4x great grandparents, their daughter Susannah being the connection. If anyone can go further back than them, for example who their parents were, that would be marvellous - also, did Thomas remain a labourer throughout his life?
Thanks a lot in advance,
Mich

They married, as I suggested, in Tivetshall St Mary on 21st October 1840. As suspected, Elizabeth was Elizabeth Woodcraft.
Thomas appears to have been baptised in TSM on 30 Aug 1818, son of James & Ann. He was an agricultural labourer in every census, right up to 1891 when he was 72. He appears to have died in 1900 aged 83.

That's amazing, thank you :D - trying to send you a personal message, but as a new member I think I need to make a certain number of posts first...

According to census and her death record, she was born in Aslacton in 1819. There is a Daniel & Elizabeth Woodcraft who seem quite likely candidates but no concrete evidence.
