??? Hello I am a total newbie at this game so please bare with me......
I am looking for any information on my Great Grandmother Sarah Jane Robinson who was born in sept 1/4 1875 in Kendal. ............At the moment I am waiting for her birth certificate to arrive...bu I though I would try and start the ball rolling a little.......
I know she went on the marry Thomas Kelly in 1915 in Prestwich Manchester, and she refused to give details of her father down on the wedding certificate.......
As far as I know she came from the farming background and generally went back to help with the laborers when it was harvest time.......
Sarah Jane and Thomas had four children Patrick DOB 1906...Margaret Robinson Kelly DOB March 1908, Sarah Jane Kelly DOB June 1910, and Thomas Kelly DOB Nov 1914.....They were all born in the Manchester area......
But I'm totally stuck on Sarah.......seem to have lost the track with her and her family.......

The fathers name has been transcribed as rachel but upon looking at the image how they got that is unbelievable! Its a scribbled initial with a ii/o after it!

Sarah Jane Kelly (nee Robinson) was my grandmother. Her son Thomas was my day. William James was born and died in 1905.
Margaret Robinson Kelly married in 1959 and died in 1966 - no children
Sarah Jane Kelly married in 1963 and died in 1966 - no children
Patrick Thomas Kelly was killed fighting a paper mill fire in 1934 aged 28. He married a lady named Mary and I believe they had a daughter, but I am still searching for his marriage and his daughters birth
My dad Thomas Kelly married in 1946 had 2 daughter and he died in 1980
Mary Kathleen was born in 1912 and again I have not been able to find any other information.
You are correct Sarah Jane did go into service, at some point met my granddad Thomas( who died some considerable time before I was born) again I am still investigating
I am still trying to solve the puzzle regarding my gran being named Robinson, living with Dinah and her husband and having 2 more children according to the 1911 census. I can only imagine that she was born before Dinah married William Edgar.
Can you please explain tome how through the family line you are related to my grandmother as I was not aware that there were any living relatives apart from my sister and myself.
Any information would be gratefully received.

Hi Maureen welcome to Rootschat :) I do not think that the OP Trust is registered any longer, the mods would confirm.
The 1875 birth that Trust mentioned has Mmn as Hodgson, I do not think the above census is correct for your Sarah Jane. All siblings have Mmn Hodgson.

I believe you are correct in to regard your conclusion. Sarah Jane was born in Kendal 1874, her mother was Dinah Elizabeth, at this time I am awaiting her birth certificate. Dinah was born in 1854. in the 1881 census she had married William Edgar, had 2 children Sarah born 1876 and Mary born 1879.
Dinah died aged 27 in 1881 leaving William a widower. In the 1891 census William is living alone and then dies in 1893 age 46 yrs, I am still trying to locate the whereabouts of the 3 children at that time, I am thinking that maybe they went either to a poor house or were taken in by family. Sarah Jane then goes into service at the age of 17yrs. Clearly at some point she met Patrick Kelly my granddad and then their family came along.
I am only just starting to search my families history so any information is invaluable.

I just followed the BC info that OP Trust sent for, so it was the wrong Sarah Jane...
The only other in Kendal around time frame, although there is another earlier in 1871 Mmn Bell.

This one is the dau of Isabella (nee Addison) and John Robinson and can be found on census.
Cannot find one with Mmn Harris, was Dinah married previously?

Hi Maureen, had a look back, seems Dinah was not married previous, married as Harris and children Mmn Harris. Had another look for a Sarah Jane b 1874

Curious why both older dau are named Sarah...same as his mother...there may be a possibility that William was her father to a Robinson, and she thought Dinah was her mother, he declares her as Dau not stepdaughter in 1881. Would keep an open mind anything is poss in FH.

Still single in 1911. deleted marriage info, not her, father was Alexander, and middle name Henry.
Be interesting to see what the BC amendment was, and what date? Possibly just to include the name Sarah, but hopefully it will hold more info for you. Keep us updated if possible. Whoever initially registered this birth, before amendment, named her Jane. She is not on GRO (main registration) as Sarah Jane, the amendment came later.

Possibly the amendment was made before Sarah Edgar b 1875, that would explain 2 Sarah as dau? Dinah and William married the next Qrt after Jane/Sarah Jane birth.
