Bit More,
Have not yet searched 1903 NSW roll BUT can do so, just need to determine the various possible electorates to then search polling place by polling place online. The following is from a different but commer site online.
Qld Roll 1913 indicates Bertram Henry Nevill at Oxley, grocer.(Line 1147, Seat of Oxley, polling place Sherwood)
Qld Roll 1919 indicates Bertram Henry Nevill at Oxley, grocer (cannot read line, image issues, but same as above) AND ALSO on same roll, immediately under (ie alpha order) Joseph Harold Nevill, at Clivedon Ave Oxley, a leather goods manufacturer.recently enrolled – hence street address "see edit below
Qld Roll 1925 indicating change address for Bertram Henry Nevill, occupation “traveller”, at Griffin’s, Munro St, Auchenflower, (line 5650, seat of Brisbane, polling place Toowong).
NSW Electoral Roll 1936 indicate Bertram Henry Nevill and Emilie Nevill at 27 Victoria St Carrington in 1936. He was a commercial traveller, she home duties. (lines 1297 and 1298, Seat of Newcastle, polling place Carrington).
Joseph Harold Nevill - not found on later rolls, only that one. EDITED TO ADD - unsighted on other rolls to 1936, if there were two lads named Joseph Harold Nevill or was the Lad fallen at Fromelles enrolled by others not yet aware of the Fromelles fate for this lad, roll may have been issued late 1918 perhaps

Bit More
NSW Electoral Roll 1930 Stanley Cecil Nevill and Edyth Vera Nevill at 14 Frederick St Merewether . He was a furniture maker, she home duties. (lines 3064 and 3064, Federal seat of Newcastle, State seat of Hamilton polling place Merewether).
NSW roll 1936, same couple, now at Devonshire St Newcastle (lines 5880 and 5881. Fed, State, and polling place all Newcastle. This would support your information re S C Nevill & Co address Devonshire St Newcastle.
Still searching

Bertram Henry Nevill's second wife Carrie is listed on the Ryerson Index. But as she's a second wife, the notice would probably not have any useful information in it. :-\
Dee

But there's a newspaper notice for Rebecca Frances NEVILL, wife of Stanley Cecil NEVILL on the Ryerson Index. That could well be worth asking for further information. :D :D

Hi Dee,
I will try to find someone for Newcastle Herald look up,
edit to add - I phoned a friend :

Hi all,
Joseph Harold Nevill, son of Henry James and Ada Annie - we have not advanced this search for quite a number of days, but the searching continues.
We know he was born NSW, and that his parents by 1917 were in Qld. He had siblings, and Ruskie's post at the beginning of this thread has many genie clues that several of us have been following up on.
My OH and I will try some thinking outside the square on the Newcastle Herald lookups, hopefully though there will be other clues to follow through on.

Hello,
I have just returned from a wonderful family history weekend with my 3 girlfriends and arrived home tonight determined to trace the family of my Grandmother, Dulcie Jessie Moore. I searched for her name on Google and found this list!!
I am related to Joseph Harold Nevill, he is the maternal uncle of my grandmother, making him my paternal 3xgreat uncle. Is it too late to ask if I can be of any help with your search? Who do I need to contact?
I am thrilled to see how the list members are willing to provide information that they find & I hope that can add to other threads in the same way.
As I mentioned I don't have a lot of knowledge about this line, but I am willing to help & am very interested in learning more.

Hello Rootschatters!!
I just wanted to let you know that I had a call from the Defence Dept today to tell me that the DNA sample collected from my father matched the DNA of our missing Fromelles soldier, Joseph Harold Nevill.
I was so excited to receive this news & I just wanted to thank you all for the research that you have done on my paternal line and that without rootschat & Tim's original post on the forum I would never have known about this branch of my family. It has been a very steep & exciting learning curve.
Thanks & I'll post when I know more.

That is wonderful news, Vicki.

Wonderful news Vicki ... had a message from Sherlock today to let me know you had been in touch.
Tim and I are SO HAPPY that 95 boys now have names on their headstones. A few more to go :)
We also want to give the Rootschatters our heartfelt appreciation for all the hard research and brain storming that has been given to assist in giving the boys a sacred resting places. Well done all of you.
If any of you ever get to France I am sure it will be on your itinerary to visit Fromelles and put a poppy on the graves and say hello :)
Bright Blessings

OH and I are so pleased to learn of your good news Vicki

Hello to anyone interested,
just to correct some misinformation on this thread .. if I read it correctly, it has Joseph's sister Muriel Gladys as having died in 1911 .. in fact she married then .. and lived to the ripe old age of 92 .. dying in Rockhampton .. she had 4 sons, 5 grandchildren (of which I am one - and some of us remember having seen a photo of Joseph in army uniform on the mantelpiece at my grandparent's home in Rockhampton), as well as 9 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren so far (some of them are still breeding) ... most are in Queensland .. though I live in France and only just became aware of Joseph being identified in time to get to the Fromelles ceremony in July ... indeed, I was very pleased to have been able to go there .....anyway ... thank you all very much for your wonderful work .... Gary

Hello Sandra,
Gary can't respond via the personal message system until he has posted three messages on the Board. It has to be like this in an effort to stop spammers.
Hopefully Gary will read this and perhaps post a couple more messages on this thread, and then he can get in touch with you by personal message.
It's been wonderful to read the outcome of this particular search. :D :D
Dee :)

Thanks ... I should have remembered that!!!

I am chuffed to bits to see that this one enquiry at least has panned out. I have looked at both the Australian and British sites about Fromelles and watched programmes about it aswell and all I can say is Hurrah! If it brings some of the families together too thats even better!
Dee (yes another one!)

Sorry that I did not get back onto this thread and have been unable to respond to messages sent to me. I'm not sure what happened, but email addresses etc have changed since then and I lost track of these things. Hopefully, better late than never! I now have a bit more time and have recently taken to doing quite a lot of family research, including a little on the Nevill side of the family.
Having seen the recent information about having to make three posts, I'll attend to this..Gary

Another post about the Nevills. While I have identified Joseph's mother, Ada Smith's parents : Ada was born in Sydney in 1864 and seems to have died in 1898 (is this correct?), her parents were Charles (Sydney) Smith and Elizabeth Sawyer; but I have not been able to find out if Joseph's father Henry J Nevill was born in Australia or not, though I have found a Henry Neville (with an "e") who arrived Sydney on 14 September 1882 on the "Northern Monarch"aged 29 years called "Neville, Henry" stated to be from Lancashire and CofE religion. But I am not sure if this is the same person. perhaps someone knows. cheers .. Gary

I'm slow to find this post, sorry...
My father John Robeille is the son of of Roy Nevill, (brother of Joseph Harold Nevill).
I have done my DNA test recently, and am waiting on arrival of another DNA kit so my father John can test.
