Title: Isleworth- burials at Cemetery
Post by: alunno-a on Wednesday 08 July 09 12:51 BST (UK)
Hi-  hope London and Middx is the right place for this question---

Does any one know of, or have access to, printed/transcribed burial lists or MIs for Isleworth?? Are there any, and, as i am not anywhere near the area, does anyone know if I can buy copies etc??

(I am looking for info on a Family called Blackabey or Blackaby, who were Shoemakers at Swan Street, Isleworth, -and relations called Glanville and Hann, Jones and Pollard- all in same area c 1890-1930)

Thank you for any info--
Sally

Hi Sally

Isleworth cemetery opened in 1880. Many people buried in cemeteries could not afford to buy the plot of land for burial let alone a gravestone. They were buried in common graves but were not pauper burials since the family paid for the funeral service. Where families could afford to buy family plots, if they were able to afford some sort of simple gravestone that may not have survived. Cemeteries keep a list of burials but also information on who purchased grave plots and when different members of the family were buried in the plot. Isleworth cemetery is in Hounslow. To request a search in their records you really need specific names and dates.

Thank-you Valda,
sorry for delay in thanking-you, for some reason I have been unable to log-in over the weekend!
That information is great- I shall contact the Cemetery prior to a visit, I think.
