Title: McDougall Dundee Angus
Post by: Barleymow on Thursday 09 July 09 23:35 BST (UK)
Hello all,I am new to the site, but have a query already!.

My grandfather was William McDougall born 1863 in Dundee Angus.
His father was John a housepainter.
On the 1881 census he is to be found in Grimsby Lincolnshire as a fishing apprentice, living at 20 Cleethorpes Road.

On the 1881 census his family in Scotland were living at 22 Arthur Street Dundee Angus.

Is there any of my relations on the site I wonder,It would be nice to find out.

Many thanks.
Barleymow

 Hello Barleymow,
I think you have found a relative! Your Grandfather was the brother of my Grandfather, Andrew Marshall McDougall. I have some more information on the family line in Scotland that I can send if you like but I would also be interested to hear of your Grandfather's line. Lovely to hear from you,
 :) mcrae

Dear Barleymow,
very pleased to get your message but as today is the 1st time I have used this site I can't use the Pesonal Message system yet. Would like to exchange email addresses whenever possible. Note your Grandfather William had a large family, his brother Andrew Marshall had about 10! Quite a few died in infancy.
I have a photo of a gravestone in Dundee where amongst others your Grandfather's parents are buried.
regards,
mcrae  :)

Does anyone know of James Kennedy, changed his name to MacDougall when grown as he was the illegitimate son of James MacDougall (think he was a shephard??).
This as around 1840-1860.
Mother was Betsy/Betty Kennedy.
