Title: Ancestors of Edward Bailey
Post by: Canada529 on Thursday 23 July 09 16:37 BST (UK)
I am seeking information about ancestors of Edward Bailey, born about 1829 in Dawley, Shropshire.  My mother was a Bailey and emigrated to Canada where I now live.

Have you seen bruce5291's tree on ancestry - http://trees.ancestry.co.uk/tree/9253177/person/-753535541?pg=32827

He seems to have a fair amount of detail on this family

Thanks bedfordshireboy, bruce5291 is me in ancestry.ca.  Living in Canada, after exhausting census which does not go earlier than 1841, and bmd records which go no earlier than 1837, it's becoming difficult for me to trace my ancestry any earlier.  My mother was a Bailey and emigrated to Canada in 1939 when she married my dad.  Her father was Edward W. Bailey (1874, Madelay, Shrop.) and mother Lucy Annie Summers (1874, Madelay).  Edward W. was the son of Edward Bailey (abt. 1830, Dawley, Shrop) and Mary Ann Moore (1839, Stratford-on-Avon) and Edward was the son of Edward Bailey (1805, Dawley) and Ann.  That's as far as I've gone.  If anyone can help with more info or details or sites that I can access, I'd be thankful.

I saw your recent message re: Bailey.  I am also researching Bailey.  I am looking for the family of Susannah Bailey who was born in the 1700's.  She married a Edward Jones in 1787.

Eventually a part of this family came to Canada, where I now live.  Have you run into this name?

Shirley, the Baileys I'm researching were from Shropshire (Dawley area).  My mother emigrated to Canada in 1939 and then a cousin (surname Brown) came here in the 1960's.  I haven't been able to get as far back as 1700 yet.  Still researching.

I have a cousin (distant) who's grandmother was a Mary Moore Bailey from the Malinslee area of Dawley. You can contact Lynda via the Guild of One name Studies under the name interest 'Chetwood'. I know that she is researching this Bailey line of her ancestry.
