Sarah Chalmers 49
Thomas Chalmers 14
William Chalmers 12
Mary Chalmers 10
Ronald Clark 43, lodger, Registered Medical Practitioner, b. Port Glasgow

You would need to look at the original for relationship as the Chalmer family are down as children to Alexander (is this Sarah, mother's family?) - entry in 1891:

Alexr Drynan 64, retired farmer b. Old Luce, Wigtownshire
Mary Drynan 65, sister b. Old Luce, Wigtownshire
Mary Galloway 65, sister, b. Old Luce, Wigtownshire
Annie Chalmers 13
Janet Chalmers 11
David Chalmers 8
Thos Chalmers 4
William Chalmers 2
Mary Chalmers 11 Months

Monica

Address: Shore Street, Kirkmaiden

I see from IGI that mother Sarah is McCrackan so not sure of the connection to the Drynans.

Hi Monica,
Thank you so much for this, I don't know of any family connection with the Drynans, but David and Sarah's youngest daughter Mary's middle name was Drynan, I think maybe they were just good friends.
David had a house built "Gladstone Villa" on Stair Street about 1891 so maybe this is why the Chalmers are scattered. I wonder where Alexander "my GrtGrandfather), Elizabeth and Sarah are. It's strange why Sarah would leave Mary who was only a baby and go to Stranraer.
Your help is greatly appreciated, I've always wondered why Mary was Called Drynan.
Kind Regards
Beannie

Not having much luck with David father, Alexander and Sarah but I think this might be Elizabeth in 1891:

Elizabeth Chalmers, 17, Nurse (Domestic Serv), b. Kirkmaiden at the Whyte household
Address: Westview Cottage Bowling Green Rd, Stranraer

Have you seen this Rootsweb post - quite a recent posting:

I am descended from the Chalmers of Drummore(Kirkmaiden), my G Grandfather was David Chalmers b1852 d1911. He was the Harbour Master in Drummore, his wife was Sarah McCracken b1848 d1928. I am descended from their daughter Elizabeth McCracken Summers nee Chalmers born in Drummore 1874 died in Stretford Lancs 1938. Her brother was William McMillan Chalmers who was married to Harriet and lived at West Didsbury, Manchester. William was killed in the Battle for Loos in 1915. I am looking for any more of the family anywhere in the world

There are a number of Ancestry trees for this family. One of them following through Sarah Chalmers. They have her 1891 entry down in Felstead, Essex, England:

Sarah Chalmers, 17, domestic servant b. Kirkmaiden Scotland - working at the Whiteley household
RG12; Piece: 1427; Folio 14; Page 17;

Sarah looks to have married a Walter Ince in Braintree in 1898.

Ronald Clark died at Gladstone Villa in 1931.  It was listed as being in Drummond; but I have eventually figured out this was Drummore (in parish of Kirkmaiden).  Monica Gillies Clark (spinster) and Thomas Maclellan Hunter (merchant) were apparently the executors.
