It's just that I've been looking for her .... the last I saw of her was with her sisters in 1861 ! ... and they both are living in the same place !! :)

Yes - she's the only one anywhere near the right age in the earlier censuses, so it does look likely.
Unless she's supposed to be a direct ancestor of yours, in which case the lack of children is a bit of a blow!
:D
-
Her sister Mary is my direct !! ... thank goodness ... otherwise I mightn't be sitting here talking to you !! :D :D :D
-
Sure as I'm riding this bicycle!!
That accounts for your being so fluid in French then!
:D
I think you need to ask for a marriage look-up - all Suzannes - cant remember if they're online now ...

Stewart

:D :D :D :D
Sorry ...... !
I need to know/find out ..... if the Susan Groizard married to Frederick Bews is the daughter of Louis Groizard and Susan (Jahet) Groizard !
Annie :)
-
Do we have a date for the marriage of SG to FB? I've lost the plot with this one!
Stewart
-
Hi Stewart !
I have to say no ... I have no date !! :-\
She was living with her sisters in 1861 ... then the next time I saw her was 1871 with Frederick Bews ... she said she was married - but she's noted as Groizard !!
RG10 5756 52 19
Frederick BEWS H M 29 painter Jersey St Helier's
Susan GROIZARD W M 29 do

I have her on all the census now up to 1901 all the others say Susan Bews !!
I also found a Will and Testament of a Frederick Bews, St Helier. Dated 6 February 1902. 08/01/1917 - 08/01/1917
So I'm hoping she's my girl !! :)
-
Hi Annie
I do wish people would get married in the Parish in which they lived. It would life so much easier!!!
St Saviours marriages - June 1863 to March 1866, page 1, Frederick Bews. Susanne Rachel Groizard is on the same page.
Stewart
-
I appreciate your help very much Stewart .... but I still can't tell if it's her .... :-\ I've never seen mention of Rachel before ! :-[
the only way I'm going to know for sure is to buy the marriage certificate to see who her father is !!
Thanks again for all your work !
Annie :)
-
Hello both - is there any mileage in looking for a baptism for a Susanne Rachel, since we know St Helier and a rough date?
:)
-
I can go and look at the certificate but it'll probably be in the new year.
I should hang on before you order it.
Stewart
-
Thanks Stewart - for this - and everything you've done for me this year !
Have a wonderful and Blessed holiday !
Annie :)
-
Hi Annie
Hope this is the couple your looking for!
First an apology. I went in this morning and looked at the marriage certificate and wrote down everything except the date!!!!! If it is your man, I'll go back and look it up.
Frederick Bews, 22, bachelor, a carpenter, living at 22 Hilgrove Lane, St Helier. Born St Helier. Father Thomas Bews, a lawyer.
Susanne Rachel Groizard, 23, spinster, also, living at 22 Hilgrove Lane, St Helier. Born St Helier. Father Louis Groizard, a painter.
Witnesses were Louis Groizard and Matilda Hamilton.
Stewart

I am new to the site, and have just been reading about John Crighton who married Annie Patterson 1892- (should be Paterson) she was my GG grandmother, her first husband George died at sea. John Crighton was a Lloyds Surveyor and lived and worked in Bordeaux and Dunkirk, France. I have several letters written by him and Annie to family members in Bedford Road, Bootle. I am very interested if anyone else has more information that they could post. thanks
-
Hi HPaterson - and welcome! :)
I can't find the surnames you refer to on this thread and wonder if you have posted in the right place?
Where did you read about them?
Hoping to help!
Kind regards, Arranroots :)
-
Hi, thanks for the reply. I clicked on to "liverpool annie" s page as there was a heading "Re: No trace of my Crighton ancestors after 1865" and found all the comments very interesting. As I have lots of letters, photos, postcards etc., relating to John Crighton from Bedford Road, Liverpool = thats what brought me to this site. Its fascinating reading all the items that are on this web page.
regards :)

Hello again
Sadly, though Liverpool Annie was one of our most prolific and best-loved contributors, she hasn't been online for some years.
We would love it if she were to return and post - here's hoping! If not, I guess there is a chance that some other relative will discover your post, in the same way as you discovered hers.
Kind regards, Arranroots ;)
-
Hi, thanks for the up-date. Let's hope that I can continue to find out more and fill in some of the blanks.
regards
