This is the only picture of my grandfather that I have ever seen, and he is the man behind the three front people, half in darkness. Is there any way someone can remove the other three and pick out his features so he can be seen, please?

Hi .....I had a go at this one but I wasn't happy with it :-\ ....would it be possible for you to rescan at 300dpi isolating your grandfather as this will give a better result.

Thank you, Treetotal, hope this is what you mean, though it's now only 50kb approx. :-\

Yes that looks better...I will have a go for you tomorrow...at least it's brought your photo back up the board and others can have a try too seeing as this is the only one you have of him...I'm sure others will be giving it a shot for you too ;)

Irene, Thank you for your work on my grandfather. He died before I was born and seems to have left a very faint trace of himself behind - as I said, this is the only photo I have ever seen of him and I am not certain of his parentage and birthplace either. It's great to see your interpretation of those shadows and I hope someone else can come up with something too. Thank you again and have a happy Christmas :)

Dear Terry and Carolyn
Thank you to you both for your work.
Terry, you have made a very wraith-like image, which matches what I know of other aspects of my grandfathers life - not a lot! I feel like I'm looking at him through a misted window, which at the moment is very appropriate.
Carolyn, your picture is much more defined - you've given him eyes the same blue as my brother's - how did you know!
Thank you both and a happy Christmas to you

Hi alpinecottage....You are welcome, as for the blue eyes, well its a secret only us restorers know ;)
A very merry Xmas to you and yours also ! :) :)

Hope its ok for you, I'm afraid its the best i could do with him . :)
