Title: WA help needed - Thomas & Jones from Wales
Post by: Rosedale on Sunday 03 January 10 22:18 GMT (UK)
Hi,

Seeking information on my Evan Foulkes Jones after 1901 and Jane Thomas (apparently a cousin to Hedd Wyn so assuming she's from Trawsfynydd, Wales too.. born 1884-1890.. perhaps meaning they went out to Australia together...?)

Evan Foulkes Jones was born in 1885 Trawsfynydd, Wales, and is on the 1901 Welsh Census, son to Councillor David Tegid Jones, he moved to Australia with either his elder brother I believe.. David Jones, 1874

He married Jane Thomas, around Perth in 1912. Apparently she came over from Wales ^, but I've been unable to discover anything about her. They had Alice around 1908 (Yilgarn), one between these two, Tegid in 1916 (Northam), Arthur in 1919 (Northam) and Kathleen around 1919-??...

apparently Kathleen was born on a ship going back to Wales - though unable to find anything about her birth either!! I know they returned back around then to take over the running of a family farm, and it's been said to be 1919-1921, though the owner of the farm didn't actually die until 1927...

So HE arrived in Australia from 1901-1908, was definitely there from 1912-1919. ;)
Also found him living in Meekering (?) as a Farm Labourer in 1916..
Left from anytime around 1920-1928...

Got nothing for the brother who went with him, but I've been told that he didn't return back to Wales.

Any more information at all would be a bonus...

Hi there

Hope I can revive this old post. I am looking for further information on this Jones family, in particular the brother David Jones who stayed in Australia.

Did you manage to find anything else out?

Evan Foulkes Jones did return to the family farm at Trawsfynydd. I don't know much about him or Jane Thomas however you are correct with their children's names and I can also help with the continued Jones family in Wales.
