Hi
I'm looking for any info on this fellow who was the father of Mary FREEMAN b c1749 in Ashwell. Two possibles (at least) have been identified.
Thomas FREEMAN b c1722 Ashwell m Anne POPPLE at Edith Weston in 1845/46 (Anne was born 1720 Wing)
Thomas FREEMAN b c1712 Ashwell m Ann ?? (Thomas' parents were Robert FREEMAN & Anne HERRING)
I'm trying to work out which one was Mary's father.
Any help appreciated thanks
Bob

Hi,
This might be a hint - although not proof. These are all the births of Mary and her siblings in Ashwell. As you can see they start at the right time for the marriage to Ann Popple to be the right one.
DAY MTH YEAR FIRST NAMES SURNAME REL PARENTS
31 AUG 1746 JOHN FREEMAN S/O THOMAS/ANN
1 NOV 1747 WILLIAM FREEMAN S/O THOMAS/ANN
29 MAR 1749 MARY FREEMAN D/O THOMAS/ANN
3 JAN 1752 SARAH FREEMAN D/O THOMAS/ANN
21 APR 1754 JOHN FREEMAN S/O THOMAS/ANN
4 APR 1756 ANN FREEMAN D/O THOMAS/ANN
21 SEP 1757 THOMAS FREEMAN S/O THOMAS/ANN
20 FEB 1763 THOMAS FREEMAN S/O THOMAS/ANN
7 APR 1765 ANN FREEMAN D/O THOMAS/ANN
This is the marriage record for Thomas & Ann Popple.
4 FEB 1746/7 THOMAS FREEMAN OTP ANN POPPLE OTP
I'm afraid I don't have the other Thomas Freeman marriage.

Hi Laura
Thanks for that, I certainly didn't have Mary's siblings and it does fit with marriage. Food for thought.
Another question popped into my head, do you know if the other Thomas FREEMAN actually existed?

Hi Bob,
Yes he did - didn't think of that :-[
5 OCT 1712 THOMAS FREEMAN S/O ROBERT/ANNE ASHWELL
I couldn't find the c1722 baptism. The next Thomas Freeman baptised after 1712 was in 1757. Maybe there was only ever one Thomas? Unless the 1722 one was really baptised elsewhere of course.
Did you have the parent's marriage?:
30 JUN 1701 ROBERT FREEMAN OTP ANNE HERRING OTP ASHWELL
I found Anne Herring's baptism as well
25 DEC 1675 ANNE HERRING D/O JOHN/ELIZABETH ASHWELL
Let me know if you need more info.

Hi Laura
Thanks for that.
If there were two couples, Thomas & Ann, it would be fair to assume that they both had kids. So the list you gave me in your first post could be a mixture although the spread does look like one family. I suppose it is possible that there was only one Thomas.
I'll think about that.
Cheers
Bob
