Information on the death of P.T. O'Dowd. dob June 1866, Sligo Ireland, arrived in SF, CA 1886, escaped from Ireland changed name from Doody.
Welcomed and assisted  DeVelera. Need Parents names, too!

It may be worth checking to see if you if you can locate further US cert details (e.g. marriage), as these these often include addition family details (parents, place of birth etc) that will help narrow down the correct records in Ireland.

There are a few possible matches in the Sligo area around the right time - e.g.

The registration district covers the town of Sligo and some of the surrounding areas.

According to the late Edward MacLysaght one of the greatest authorities on Irish names, a branch of the Sligo O'Dowds settled in Kerry where they adopted the name Doody.

This could be the same family.The major tribe lords were the O'Dowdas they held most of there lands in Sligo.
    But also had land in Mayo. I have some history on this family.If you think it may help you I will give it to you. Lep

My great-grandfather was TP O'Dowd. I too am looking for his parents names and his actual birth place as there is some question if he was born in Sligo or in Cty Kerry.  If you have more information please let me know - thank you

Did he marry? if so, does his marriage certificate give any indication of parents' names? what about death certificate?
