Hi,
Does anyone know where abouts Outram street in Belfast was/is?
Thanks
-
It's a small street in behind UTV studios on the Ormeau Road - doesn't seem to exist any more. It was between the UTV Internet logo and Walnut Street on the attached link to Google Maps

Ah Brilliant, thanks for that. I presume it was probably terraces? It transpires from his birth certificate that my Great grandfather was born in Outram street.

Outram Street was still there in 1911 census- search with 'outram' as townland/street and then click on a name to get link to details about occupants, houses, etc.

How wonderful to hear about your familys connection to Outram Street.
My family lived in Outram Street in 1880, so a bit before your family. I had a look on the street directories but couldnt see them, I wonder if they perhaps lodged with someone, or lived there only for a short time, as I know they moved to Walmer Street.

Lots more detail on the Johnston family here- and still lots more avenues to explore on that family and the questions raised in this thread with all the Irish resources now online.

Thanks James, I have sent you a PM.

Still looking for information on the Johnston family who seemed to have lived in a number of addresses in Outram street, in particular I am trying to find Edwin Johnston's parents.
-
Did you look at all the posts on the other thread? Edwin's marriage certificate (see reply #12) should list his father's name and occupation which may help trace him and the names of both witnesses might also assist you.
Probably best to use the other thread for replies if trying to trace Edwin's family.

Did you have any success in finding out about Outram Street? I think it was near or connected to Coyle's Street. I'm looking for Dunlops, who happened to live in several places in close proximity to and on Outram Street.
Thanks.
Robin
