youngest son of the late Alfred Thrupp, of Tasmania, aged 45 years."

This link to three headstones in Tasmania which I think are related to your family.
It seems ALFRED was born around 1780

http://trove.nla.gov.au/
entereing ALFRED THRUPP into the search box here will bring up a lot of interesting information, some of it as early as 1820.
A notice regarding the death of ALFRED's wife SARAH ANN "after a long and painful illnes..." appeared in the Mercury 25/7/1860.

Hi Althea,
Just so that you don't go chasing shadows, the family tree details that Janinez found are not correct.
"Thomas Edmund's parents noted as:
Edmund ...... and married Elizabeth ?? no date shown for marriage
Kids =
Thomas Edmund Thrupp (above
Arthur Thrupp b. 7 Sep 1851 Saint Martin, Worcester, England.
Rosa Ann Thrupp b. 8 Jan 1860 Claines, Worcester, England."
There was an Edmund THRUPP who was a confectioner and baker in Claines, Worcestershire. His wife was Elizabeth and they had a tribe of children in Worcestershire including the Arthur and Rosa mentioned above. They had nothing to do with Tasmania, and were not the parents of your Thomas.

Hi, Althea. I can help a bit here because the person you are looking at is my g-g-grandfather Thomas Edmund Thrupp, and I did quite a bit of research on him before reaching a brick wall re his birth registration. Registration of births was not compulsory in Tasmania until about 1850 and it is likely that Thomas Edmund's birth was never registered, as I looked as thoroughly as I could and there are plausible reasons why this step was omitted. By the way, the Thrupp birth in Claines, Worcester, is a different family, though I wondered too for a while before researching the matter further. We are certain that he was born in Tasmania and that all the information on his marriage and death certificates is correct, but at this stage there are still some issues of his parentage that we can't prove in spite of the oral evidence handed down by family members. I hope this clears up a few things for you in spite of the unanswered questions!

Hi RE Thomas Edmund Thrupp. I believe he was born in Brighton, Tasmania in 1845. He was my 4 Cousin, 4 times removed. According to my research. He passed away on 6 Aug 1878 in Thames, New Zealand. Thomas and his Wife Charlotte BRADY had 6 children. His parents were Edmund Harry and Elizabeth Thrupp. I have much more on the Thrupp family, having started research over 35 years ago.
Happy Researching

I had an opportunity to look at the Brighton C of E registers which cover Bridgewater, Broadmarsh, Brighton/Pontville around 1845 and couldn't find a baptisn for Thomas Edward Thrupp ??? That's not to say he might not have been baptised in another religious faith? but it appears the family was basically Anglican.
The fact is there were almost no Thrupp children baptised in that area (at least not Anglican) between 1840 and 1850? The exception was a male baptised Charles Wyllys born Jan 20 1845 and bapt. June 14 1845 to Ann Bullock and Wm Henry Thrupp of Broadmarsh (unmarried) Sponsors were J N Thrupp, H H THrupp and H or N A Trupp.
No further mention of this child later on in the Names Index search or if he took the Thrupp surname or something else? There was an Ann Bullock married to James Picher in 1846 - https://stors.tas.gov.au/RGD37-1-4p402j2k but whether this is the same Ann have no idea?
Other than that there appears to be no other Thrupp children in that period :o

His parents were Edmund Harry and Elizabeth Thrupp.
Was Thomas Edmund illegitimate? How do you know his mother was Elizabeth? What does Edmund Harry's death cert say about spouses and children?
Debra :)
