Hi
So far the family originated outside Buncrana in Fallask. I do know that at least one of the brothers went to Mindoran, Clonmany. Any relation?

I've seen McDaids from Mindoran in Clonmany _ St Marys Church (Graves). If you've traced your family tree back to mid 1850s I may be able to see if any connection. PM me.

It says on the Bloody Sunday trust site, Michael McDaid lived at Tyrconnell St, and worked as a barman at the Cetic Bar, regularly taking his family on runs to Donegal on Sundays.
http://www.Bloodysundaytrust.org/bsi/BSI.media-pack-pdf-pdf (you might have to type this yourselve)
news papers in Derry memorial notices from family 2008 and 2011 - from Derry, Strabane and England
so the family must have come from Strabane

Hi, there are a large number of different McDaid families in Derry (mostly from the Bogside). My branch is from Derry although going back a few generations (my great-great-grandfather) was Arthur McDaid and was one of three brothers- one called Bernard, and one called Patrick. Patrick and all his subsequent family lived and were born in Derrora townland (near Letterkenny). Arthur and Bernard's family were all in Derry although remember Derry was part of Donegal not so long ago! the border only went up in the 20th century.....
Not sure if this is any help Linda
