I'm looking for the origins of Charles Henry MOORE who according to a marriage certificate appears to have been born in what looks like Irvine.  However, two Family Tree entries concering SCHWASS have Charles born in Shetland.

Charles and Rosina met and married in New Zealand - 9 JUN 1892 .

Charles died 1945.

Ideas please,

have you tried looking for moar,muir, moir etc sometimes the names would change when they emigrated

Thanks, but the problem is prior to emigration. It is a question of where Charles came from, Shetland or Ayrshire. A couple of Family Tree records on R....W.. say Shetland, yet the marriage certificate shows a word that resembles Irvine which I know to be Ayrshire.

There is the difficulty.

I have the parents of Charles: William Henry Moore and Alice Mary McKenzie.

just to add to the confusion maybe .....
some have his death as 2nd jan. 1939(born 1852 troon scotland)
his wife 7th dec. 1951(rose rebecca moore)
(and a picture of a gravestone with said details)

new zealand bmd has a charles henry moore death 1945 - age 82
although there is a 1939 death for charles moore - age 86
also rose rebecca moore death 1951 - age 80

i'm just looking at other people's information and the new zealand index  :-\
