David Henry GUTHRIE was born 12 Apr 1856 in Abbeyleix. By 1876 he was in New Zealand as a schoolteacher. He married Eliza Jane BRYCE in NZ in 1878.
Trying to establish his parentage. When he died in 1927, his obituary said he was the son of a D Guthrie.
He had a sister, who was married to Robert H MOORE, and who died in 1882 in NZ at the age of 31, and whose name would appear to be Jane Charlotte. She was a widow at the time.

Any idea what religious denomination your Guthrie family were and which parish they lived in ?
David's birth is just before the start of civil records, so you will need to check into church records. Does his marriage cert not give details of his parents ?

DH Guthrie's parents I have found out were David GUTHRIE and Isabell WOOD. David senior was an architect.
