James is on the US 1920 census in Providence RI (source FamilySearch - surname is transcribed as WHYTT)
Film Number: 1821673 Digital Folder Number: 4385047 Image Number: 00034 Sheet Number: 13
James (49), wife Enid (51), three children (Malcolm(25), Mavis(23) and Eileen(20)) all born UK, youngest born 1899 or 1900.
I would like to find details of their voyage, and what happened to Enid and the children after James died (in RI, 1926). Maybe 1930 US census, or a return voyage to UK??
Many thanks for any help.

Hi Jonathan
They arrive via Canada on board the Pomeranian, from Glasgow into Quebec, Canada on 11 October 1899.
Malcolm is 5, Mavis 3 and Eileen 1. It gives Malcolm and Mavis being born in Canada though with parents and Malcolm and Mavis as "returning Canadians". Have you found the children definitely being born in the UK? According to the manifest only Eileen was born in Scotland, but the census' give them born in the UK
There is a journey recorded in 1930 for Enid:-
Southampton to New York, arriving NY on 1 August 1930 on board the Berengaria. this record gives her naturalisation on 30 September 1929 at Rhode Island District Court at Providence. Her address is recorded as 1077 Smithfield Avenue, Saylesville, Pawtucket.

I found a bunch of tidbits on the family in the Fort Wayne newspapers. One of the more notable (and tragic) entries - "Donald Stewart Whyte, infant son of Mr. & Mrs. James Edward Whyte, died at 10 o'clock this morning at the family residence, 43 Swinney avenue, at the age of 21 days. Death was due to inanition. Funeral services were held at 4 o'clock this afternoon." From the Fort Wayne Sentinal from 3 Aug. 1900.
Also, in 1912, there's a mention of James E. Whyte's sister Mrs. Allan Menzies visiting them, and her husband was listed as a professor.
