Hello, my great grandmother Lily Norman was born in Coventry, Warwickshire in 1908. She was also married to a Sidney Sulley in Coventry.
But I cant find her on the 1911 census, and i cant find her parents. My nan said she thinks Lily may have had some irish roots, but shes not completely sure. if anyone can find any info on her it would really help me out. she also died in coventry, its just her parents and where she was living in 1911, that i cant find.
thanks.

Hello,
welcome to rootschat.
There is a birth registered 1909 (1st quarter) so she could have been born late 1908.
Coventry vol 6d pg 569
This would give her parents names. Her marriage certificate should also show her father's name.
regards

She does look to be in the 1911 index so you could download that to see who is in the household.
If you look at 1911 for Norman in Coventry and then put Lily in other members, you do get what seems to be a family but accessing the census would be best.

what website should i be on to look at all this?
yes she was born on Christmas day 1908, so you're right there.
thank you for your help.

Hello,
here is Free BMD index: http://www.freebmd.org.uk/ - only has indexes for your information and if you want to send off for certificates.
1911 - http://www.1911census.co.uk/search/tnaform.aspx
you can then search by her name or as I said, if you put 'Norman' as the surname; Coventry as residential place and Lily Norman in other members you will perhaps get some idea of the family.
It is not too expensive to download the page. Instructions are on site.

hello marg, ive just checked my email and its come through. thank you so much for this info ive been trying to find it everywhere!
-
Hello again,
Lily is there in 1911 indexes. You have to make sure that you get the surname in the right box- I often get it wrong. ::)
From there you can get a good idea and then look for marriages. I think I saw a likely one and then the other censuses.
We aren't allowed to post anything other than can be found in the indexes due to copyright reasons.
I do hope that you were able to look at the indexes and go from there.
good luck
