Does anyone know anything about the family that had a travel shop in llanelly many years ago called owens travel namely ceinwen+em they were related to hubbys grandmother who we are trying to do a family tree on her name was catherine jones we know she had a sister called elizabeth the father was john jones we have this info of marriage cert catherine married joseph powell in pontypridd in 1916 she was born in 1899 we would love to know where she was born lived all her married life in penygraig rhondda she died in 1979.

Can anyone give me some information on the people that used to have a travel agency in llanelli carmathenshire it was owens travel. They were belonging to catherine jones who is my hubbys grandmother,i do remember their names it was ceinwen+emrys i think ceinwen was the blood relative they are all deaceased now we are trying to do a family tree nobody to ask, on her marriage cert 1916 she was living in penygraig in the rhondda valley we know she was born1898 she had a sister called elizabeth(lizzie) if we could find info on ceinwen maybe we could trace back from her

Hiya how long ago? I have lived in Llanelli all my life im in my Fourties now but cant remember it do you know where it was in Llanelli.I remember a Richards Travel when i was younger ,Ill ask my Mother see if she remembers an Owens Travel.

Thanks welsh lady would be gratefull if you asked your mam i have a daughter who is 44 if i remember my daughter was very young when they used to visit catherine and i think they still had the travel shop then cant be sure but thanks for looking maybe it was not in llanelli but it was in that area.

Was Catherine born in Penygraig or in Llanelli, and 1898 or 1899? Have you found her on the 1901 census or 1911 census?
I haven't found a marriage of Ceinwen and Emrys at Llanelli yet. Do you have any idea of surname, which was Owen/s please?
Perhaps a relative will see this thread and be able to tell you more about the family.

Thanks for your reply emrys was the owens we think ceinwen was the relative we think she was catherines neice not enough info to go on but thank you very much for looking much appreciated.

Asked a rellie and Owens Travel was in The Arcade in Llanelli town i remember it myself now when they said where it was ,it is now a barbers.One of my family know the daughter of the ones that owned it.Will try to get an address so you can contact them see what info they can give you

Thank Welsh Lady very kind of you would love some info it is only when you are trying to do family history that you realise that you should have asked these questions years ago i think it was ceinwen was the relation but not to sure how she was related i havent a clue my hubby was the only child all his family deceased so no one to ask.
