Hello
I am looking for information on Alfred Mitchell Oct 1, 1845-Jan 27, 1934. Alfred died Denbighshire & his wife Charlotte 1847-Feb 6, 1930 died Conway Caenarvonshire.
Both are buried in Sale, Cheshire.
Possible to get a directory lookup or any other info? Alfred was a tailor and have tracked him from Manchester to Sale to Denbighsire.
Thank you

Hi
The 1901 shows Alfred was b Hulme and Charlotte was b Bootle - both Lancs
No children with them in 1901 or 1881
Possible to get a directory lookup or any other info
You have their addresses from census entries - are you looking to see if he had a business address as well?
When did they move to Wales? What other info are you looking for?

Hello
I have them in Bucklow in 1911 so it was after that they went to Wales. They never had children. I was wondering if he had business there as he was a master tailor. I am curious as to why he went to Wales. He is listed in the 2 following directories so it was after 1913 he went to Wales.
1901 Directory:
Alfred MITCHELL, tailor 82 Portland St.
residence 96 Northenden Road, Sale
1913 Directory:
82 Portland St
Alfred MITCHELL, tailor

There could be a simple explanation as to why he came to Wales? He may have come in retirement.

William Russell Jones.

He did leave quite a considerable amount of money for the time.

Interesting that Probate was granted in Manchester. I'm not all that up on probate locations at that time but would that indicate that the bulk of his estate was in the Manchester (Sale) area?
I see sub-registries at Liverpool, Manchester and Cardiff

Alfred was originally from Manchester, than went to Sale. He then went to Wales for reasons unknown, perhaps retirement but he and his wife both died in Wales and are buried in Sale. Alfred originally had family in Manchester areas as well so and I am trying to track them now but he must have made up his will before he went to Sale if probated in Manchester.
Thank you everyone

A Mr A Baker, formerly steel works superintendent is mentioned as an executor - maybe a relative :-\ The other person is probably his banker.

My next step is to get a copy of the will and take it from there.
Thank you everyone

I have a copy now of Alfred's probate. Where would I now send for a death certificate for him?
Thank you

Hi
Details are buried in here:
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/research-guides/wills-and-probate-records.htm
Look for Wills after 1858.
I've ordered the few that I needed from Leeds (address given in the link) and it takes a while!

I have filled out the applications to the best of my knowledge and will get them sent away. How long does it take to receive the copies? I am in Canada so assume a few weeks?
Thanks
