Title: Tait family
Post by: glove on Sunday 19 February 12 08:48 GMT (UK)
Hi Fellow Listers
I am trying to find a couple of death notices that appeared in the 'Newcastle Evening Chronicle'. The people in question are: Stephen Tait, 13 Dec 1899 (Stephen was hit by a passenger train on 9 Dec 1899 at Blaydon and an inquest was held on 11 Dec 1899: I am yet to find the inquest papers) and possibly his daughter, Agnes Jane Tait, 11 Apr 1901. I should mention that at the time of their deaths, both were possibly living at Montague Rd, Scotswood.

I live in Queensland, Australia and was hoping that someone maybe able to do a lookup of the above mentioned deaths when they are next at a facility that holds the records.

Cheers!.............Jenny

Co., accidentally killed at Blaydon Station.  To be interred at Gateshead Cemetery on Wednesday, 13th; Cortege to leave Central Station at 2.10 p.m..  Friends and fellow workmen kindly invited to attend.  Australian papers please copy.'

Best Wishes :)

This was his memoriam in the Evening Chronicle - Saturday, December 8, 1900.

'In loving memory of my dear husband Stephen Tait, engine driver, 14 Montague Street, Scotswood, who was accidentally killed at Blaydon Sidings, Dec. 9th 1899.  How sudden was his death to us.  A great surprise to all; But when the Lord his summons sent.  Could we refuse his call?  Ever Remembered.  Also Stephen, infant son of the above, who died Sept. 9th, 1900, aged 12 weeks.  Safe in the arms of Jesus.'

River Tyne Lass,

Thank you so much for taking the time to help me out. I have been researching the Tait family for my Aunt Florrie (daughter of Elizabeth who was the daughter of Stephen). Elizabeth was raised by Stephen's second wife Agnes whom Elizabeth loved very much indeed.

Much appreciated and once again a big thank you.

Cheers!.............Jenny

You are very welcome Jenny!

This is so sad that Stephen died in such a tragic way, followed by his two very young children.  :'(

This is very kind of you to research for your Aunt Florrie.

Best Wishes from the UK! :)
