To avoid duplication - information so far on "Kings in New York"

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,558658.0.html

Perhaps it might be easier if you list what gaps you left have for a particular family member  ;)

Hugo King. Born Cockermouth 1886.

The record below (reply 3 on the other thread) looks to fit Hugo King. Born 18 September 1887 and died 20 March 1953. Interred 30 March 1953 Long Island National Cemetery. 2040 Wellwood Avenue. Farmingdale. NY 11735

The death record for the son Charles was on the other thread.

https://www.familysearch.org/ has many Census and other records.

http://www.fultonhistory.com/flash_ok.html also has some of the Obituaries for the King family and is quite an interesting site to look at.

Hi Sandra

Thank-you for the reply and as pointed out to me elsewhere I had forgotten I had another earlier posting on

this subject so I'll have to get my act together. In previous posting the name Beatrice came up and I can

now tell you I have partly solved the mystery. Beatrice  no 1 was the sister of Henry Morgan and

presummed died as a child. Beatrice no 2 (1881) was a daughter of Henry Morgan and remained in England

when family emigrated in 1887. It appears she resided with the mother and sister of Martha.

Interestingly, Beatrice did visit her parents in New York.

Beatrice Ognes King  (as it is spelt) Born about 1881 and aged 23 years and 5 months

Beatrice was single, occupation was a domestic, from Wolverhampton with $60 in her possession. Going to visit her parents (henry) Sweeney Avenue, Patchogue. NY.

I've now found out a littel bit more about Beatrice. It appears she was the first ( surviving child) born

in Cockermouth. When the family emigrated to New York in 1887 she stayed ( voluntarily or not??) with her

Aunt and maternal grandmother in Wolverhampton. Both Elizabeth Williams.

I'll continue to use this topic location for future postings. Here's one that is causing me some

head-scratching.

Henry Morgan King ,his wife Martha (nee Williams) and family emigrated to New York in 1887.

(no problem there). The mystery starts with a passport application in USA,in 1914, for travel to England, for

commercial reasons. On this his wife is Edith Helen King.. in addition to this there is a passenger list

for 13/03/1915 in which a Edith Morgan King is listed as his wife and both going back to New York.

Is she really his wife or is she a daughter, either his of some other member of the family's?

If she is his wife (age difference about 25years) then what happened to Martha- she's off the radar ?

Edith Morgan King was always listed as the wife of Henry Morgan King.  After the death of Henry, Edith is found on a return passenger list to the UK

Edith H Morgan King. Born about 1870 and aged 46 years. Departed New York to Liverpool. England, arriving 31 December 1916 on SS New York.  Intended future residence was England.
Going to 8 High Street. Hornsey. London. N

The only online death records available would be on the italiangen.org site.
Sure I checked for newspaper articles on http://www.fultonhistory.com/flash_ok.html
but didn't find anything on Martha, the site is always worth a browse though.
