Does anyone have any information on Henry Moon b. 1836 Brookland, New Romney
He was baptised on: 02.10.1836 Brookland, his mothers name is Sarah Moon and it states he was illegitimate.
I know he married Amelia Ann Smith on 29.04.1861 in New Romney and they had three children: Lenora Jane Moon b.1866, William Collins Moon b. 1868 and Benjamin Thomas Collins Moon b. 1869.
Amelia then married a William Collins in 1870 and they had four children. I did doubt the parentage of William Collins Moon and Benjamin Collins Moon as it seems strange that they would be named Collins (Moon) and then Amelia marries a William Collins!!
William Collins Moon is my great grandfather and I have a copy of his birth certificate which states Henry Moon as his father!
However, I can not find any records anywhere of Henry Moon, he does not seem to appear on any census records and I can't find a record of his death.
I am finding information on his mothers family and believe her parents were George Moon and Elizabeth Shrewsbury both from the Romney Marsh area.
I would be grateful if anyone has any information at all on Henry Moon.
Thanks.

Have you considered the Henry Moon in the 1861 census living in Hope all Saints , Romney Marsh ? He is a lodger with a George Mann and family.

Hi Grubworm
My great great grandparents were Richard Reeve and Sarah Moon. However, I have not investigated the Moon family branch as yet. I would be very grateful to know anything you find out further back.

Thanks everyone for the advice so far, this has all proved very useful. I have checked the census records as suggested and they all seem to fit very well with the information I already have.
This led me to discovering that Henry's mother Sarah did indeed marry Richard Reeves.
Trunkybun1 I have some information on Sarah's father and grandfather for you.
Father: George Moon baptised 05.02.1786 Brookland and married Elizabeth Shrewsbury 10.07.1815 New Romney no death information as yet.
Grandfather: Thomas Moon no baptism record, married Jane Maybourne 10.04.1784 Romney Marsh no death information as yet.
Other information about Sarah's brothers and sisters I got from
http://freereg.rootsweb.com/
and searched the parish records for Moon baptisms.
Thank you bearkat for the links - I knew about the Mid Kent Marriages website, but the Romney Marsh baptisms will come in very useful.
If anyone has any idea what happened to Henry Moon I would be most grateful, I am really stuck as to where to look as every death record for a Henry Moon doesn't seem to match the age he would have been from his baptism record?
Thanks everyone

Thanks Grubworm. Makes sense about Elizabeth Shrewsbury as one of Sarah and Richard Reeves' sons was named George Shrewsbury Reeve (B 1850). I will keep my eyes open for Henry Moon...
