Hi I have a marriage certificate of James Gunn Marrying Elizabeth Gould 29 April 1878 St Mary Street Baptist Church, Newport, Monmouthshire. which im pleased i managed to obtain and on the certificate it states Henry Gould occupation Miner Father of Elizabeth Gould. So now I like to know birth date of Elizabeth and place where she was born and also her father Henry Gould his date of birth and where he was born and whom he married and also marriage details. Also not sure if he is related to Arthur J Gould born 10 Oct 1864 in Newport his dad was Joseph Gould born 28 Oct 1833 Curbridge, Oxford and his wife Elizabeth Richards born 20 Nov 1839 Monmouthshire and married Joseph in April 1859 in Newport Monmouthshire.
I would like more information to see if Henry connects up with Joseph Gould somewhere.

think Henry's place of birth should be Croscombe. You'd need his marriage cert to be sure of his father as there are 2 Henrys of much the same age born Croscombe.

There is a baptism for an Elizabeth Gold on the 12 July 1857 in Risca, with parents Henry and Susan, this has possibly been mistranscribed and should be Gould. Rowley

it's not a mistranscription as that what the register has - there's a scan of the register on FindMyPast although the baptism has been assigned to the wrong parish . Quite likely that the curate wrote it as he thought it should be spelt.

was any of this info of use to you? I see you've asked for Henry in Somerset as well. Without his marriage cert, you can't be sure that his father is Isaac. As I noted, there is another Henry Gould born Croscombe and he is more likely to be Isaac's son as his year of birth from the census is 1836/1837. Your Henry gives 1837/1838. Isaac's son was baptised in 1836. To make matters more confusing, both Henrys are in the same household in 1841.

Hi yes its confusing agree having two Henrys in same household my 3 x great grandfather Henry's birth date being 1837/38 and the other Henry 1836/37, but possibly have same father.

Will get a copy of Henry and Susan's Marriage Certificate. to find out who his father was.

just found on Free BMD Index a Marriage Registration Jan Feb March 1857 Volume Number 11a page number 244 in Newport, Monmouthshire for Henry Gould (as Gold written on it) and Susan Smith.

I gave you the marriage ref in reply # 3. I doubt that Isaac is the father of both Henrys. Don't think that having his own son in the household as one born to 'the other woman' is very likley. The younger Henry is more likely to be a grandson of Isaac, either the son of a son or the son of an unmarried daughter.
