Do you have the family on the 1841 or 1851 census which may give clues as to where she was baptised or other children in the family?
-
Is this Betty's brother?
Baptisms: 2 Aug 1833 St Oswald, Winwick, Lancashire, England
Zachariah Hindley - son of John Hindley & Mary
Born: 5 Jul
Abode: Middleton
Occupation: Farmer
Baptised by: Thos. J. Whittington Curate
-
hi, john hindley born 22 april 1807 croft lancs baptised 24 may 1807 winwick lancs parents adam hindley and mary
married mary atherton 1831 winwick lancs
the only 1 on IGI

Sorry seem to have misread your question. Do you have Betty's baptism? Just thinking that where she was baptised might help pinpoint the marriage place of John and Mary. I see Joseph was also baptised at St oswald in 1831.
This looks a possible marriage
Marriage: 11 Jan 1831 St Oswald, Winwick, Lancashire, England
John Hindley - of this Parish
Mary Atherton - of this Parish
Witness: Betty Atherton; Richd. Liptrot; John Hindley; Sarah Hindley
Could Betty have been born before they were married?
Just a thought.
-
on the 1851 census croft lancs piece 2204 folio 165 page 37 they have these children.
joseph 19, zacharia 17, mary 14, william 11

Thanks to Gibel and Doran54 for prompt reply, I have the 1851 Census which puts John and Mary Hindley at 122 Holcroft with Joseph 19 Zachariah 17 Mary 14 William 11 not sure is Holcroft a Street or place ?. so you are right about Zachariah being the Brother, yes i would think betty would have been Baptised at St Oswalds although could be a Church were her Parents came from, my info is John born croft and Mary born Culcheth, one of their other Children Ann Married Nathan Silcock in 1864 at Newchurch. At John Hindleys Baptism 31 Jan at St Oswalds his Father is listed as Joseph Mother Sarah. Also on the 1851 Census i have the Parents of John Hindley retired living with Son William at Woodhead Farm Winwick. Although it is possible that Betty could have been Born out of Wedlock i have my doubts because of the era they lived in. Cheers Martin in oz.

So were does Betty come in she isnt with the family in 1841
-
hi, what has being born out of wedlock got to do with the era ;)
-

Zachariah I presume you have as he marries Ann Monks
-
William baptised .St Oswald 27th September 1839 the day after he was born
or is he born 1844
William son of John and Mary abode Croft rather than Middleton like the earlier children
Married in the same church as his brother
29th December 1864
William Hindley, aged 25 bachelor ,farmer of Culcheth
Elizabeth Cleworth,spinster of Culcheth
grooms father John a farmer
brides father James Cleworth a wheelwright
witness to marriage John Lowe and Joseph Bancroft
-
William`s birth certificate would give you his mothers maiden name and from that you would be able to confirm the correct marriage for his parents.
William Hindley, Sept Quarter 1839 Warrington Volume 20 page 782

Mo there appear to be two William Hindley baptisms one 1839 abode Middleton ,father a farmer
the other 1844 abode Croft ,father a farmer,
Ellen there is a birth for in 1842 abode also Croft,
-
The family are still living in Middleton on the 1841 census including one year old William . Middleton came under Warrington Registration District. I think the other William born Croft 1844 was the son of a different John and Mary.

To Radcliffe, you say Betty not with the Family in 1841 so maybe Died at 13 ?? i have on my Chart Betty as 1828 Johne 1831 Joseph 1832 Ellen 1833 Mary 1836 James 1839 William 1840 another Joseph 1842 Ann 1845 and Catherine 1848. And a Joseph who on the Chart is only Linked to his Mother Mary 1843. ? Thanks for info on Josephs Marriage at Newchurch Well done. Martin.

The will of Joseph Hindley formerly of Newton in Makerfield but late of Winwick with Hulme, both in the county of Lancashire,Yeoman, deceased
who died 16th Jan 1860 at Winwick with Hulme aforsaid
was proved at Liverpool by the oath of William Hindley of Newton aforsaid, farmer son and one of the executors,
possible death registration Warrington March 1860
it may be worth applying for a copy of his full will if there is one and then you can verify if he is the father of your John,
-
To Radcliffe, many thanks for all your time with this, and you are right so many Hindleys will go through all this slowly now, i have been here in Brisbane over 40 Years and we hardly ever see the Hindley Name in fact when we arrived their was only one in the Phone book, once again Cheers Martin.
-
To Radcliffe, would you know how and where i can apply for the will of Joseph Hindley as you recommended in your post 22nd of September as he died 16th of Jan 1860 if it is not to much trouble . As you discovered formerly of Newton in Makerfield but late of Winwick with hulme by Oath of his Son William one of the Executors. Cheers Martin.
