I just read that Ancestry24 is closing on the 28th of February. Anyone know why and what will happen to all the info they have? I managed to find stuff on the Commercial road cemetery using this site. First Genealogy world closed and now Ancestry24. The NAAIRS website was out of action for a couple of days last week. It is only going to get harder to find South African info by the looks of things.

thats really annoying news , as just before christmas I found a tree that ties into my Kroon family of Capetown after many unfruitful months of searching...
I did notice they had problems with their subscription payments system about the 6th of december 2012...
any furthering news of where the resources and trees are going to be placed or any one purchasing the database will most be appreciated ...
thank you pampoen for the information..... as much as it is dissappointing

Hi there,
I emailed Heather early this am before the notice appeared so I do not think we will get a response. Last week she said that the site was undergoing major changes - I am sure we will hear in due course.
Derek, the reason Genealogyworld closed was because the owner was very ill and unfortunately passed away in July. (She was the descent of William Tollner ) However much of the info is still available on Mole's site.
We will wait in anticipation for the news!
