Can anyone help me?
I am searching for the parents...etc of Annie Charlotte Doyle born @1870 in Ireland (co unknown)
She married William Wallace Cowie (1866, Falkirk, Scotland) who was in the military. I believe this couple lived in NW India for a while as two of their children were born there. Children:
William Wallace Cowie (15Dec1893, Meerut India-12APR1966, Windsor, Ontario, Canada)
Ellen Cowie (1894, NE India)
Elizabeth Cowie (1897, Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland)
James Cowie (1898, Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland)
And it looks like Annie had another son from another marriage?
Albert John Whiting (1891, India)....
So she might have been married to a Whiting and met WW Cowie while in India (got married there?)
Any help would be great, I cant find ANYTHING.

Hello,
perhaps you have already seen this on Family Search: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FGJ5-F3F
Annie Charlotte Doyle married in Dublin South 1889 - 4th quarter Vol 2 pg 598.
William Jones Whiting is on the same page. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FYH7-3ZC
You could send for that marriage certificate for details of Annie's father.

Family Search also has a death for a William John Jones Stewart Whiting - born and died India 1892
That is the same year though as the marriage to William Cowie :-\

You are good at this. Maybe Family Search is better to use than ancestry. I always get soooo many things come up on ancestry I dont even know where to start. Heywood...did u see a marriage doc for Annie and William Wallace Cowie somewhere?

Hello again,
I gave you the link to the marriage on FS - https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FGJ5-F3F
That has Annie's father as 'Shu' which doesn't seem right. That's why it would be good to get the certificate for the marriage to William Jones Whiting. http://www.groireland.ie/

A FIBIS [families in british india] website search reveals that William [Willie] Jones Whiting was a Sgt. 2nd Highland Light Infantry stationed in Faisalabad - presumably in Dublin in 1889. A son Albert John was bapt. in India 1890. Willie was buried in India in1891 and a son John William Stewart W. was baptised there after his fathers death in 1892 - so a re-marriage for Annie in that year would not be unlikely with a birth in 1893 of Wm Wallace Cowie.

I am resurrecting this thread. I found a bit more info but need help translating poor writing. I found the marriage license. Can someone help me read the address where Annie Doyle lived? And...could her fathers occupation possibly have been a traveller? :D Would love to be able to find more about her parents.
-
23 ...worth/work Square ? Her father's occupation may have been commercial traveller.
-
Kenilworth Square, Rathgar (which is part of Dublin)?
-
I would agree with Kenilworth Square and also commercial traveller.

I was wondering why people were still posting about this when scotmum had already got it, than realised I was reading a different thread.

Help Im still stuck at the same place here. I see Annies Father John listed on the marriage cert and then two witnesses...maggie doyle and Mary (?) doyle. Maybe one of those is her mother? not that searching for a John and Mary Doyle in Ireland helps, but....
I have done my DNA with ancestry and i have maybe five matches that come up if i search for doyle. I have emailed all of them and none of them can see a match with my doyles but most of them seem to come from Co Wicklow. Not sure if that helps in the least but maybe it could be a clue a bit further back?
I also heard that a bunch of new (old) irish records were to be released soon. Maybe that will help.
Anyone with any advice, pointers, other sites that might be helpful?????
Thank you!
