Arthur Henry Cooper was a twin - his sister, Barbara Ellen Cooper had a sad life. She and her illegitimate daughter Mary Ann were consigned to Newport Union Workhouse (Monmouthshire) on 29 August 1903. Mary Ann was moved on to Dr.Barnardo's in 1905 but Ellen remained 'institutionalised' locally until her death in 1962.
Arthur, her brother, has been traced in 1901 and 1911 censuses - in 1911 he is still single, a coal miner, living with his mother Mary Ann Cooper at 1 Cwm Houses, Cilfynydd, Pontypridd.
Then the trail goes cold. Can anyone help?

Arthur H Cooper is not an uncommon name, so there are more than one death that fits.
But if he stayed in Wales this might be a possible -
Ap/May/Jun 1935
Cardiff
11a 395
Arthur H Cooper age 57

Do you know when mother Mary Ann Cooper died ?
Her death cert would give name of informant - who could be Arthur??? If so it could have his address too - newspaper reports of death may give some information??

Thanks for the leads that I will try to follow in the near term.
I should have added that Arthur and Barbara Ellen Cooper had a number of siblings (dates of birth - Mar/Jun = GRO BMD quarters):
William George Cooper (17 Jun 1876)
Frederick Cooper (c.1880)
Mary Elizabeth (or E.M.!) Cooper (Mar. 1885)
Hannah Cooper (Jun 1888)
George Cooper (Mar 1891)
Robert Cooper (Mar 1894)
Isabella (Jane) Cooper (c.1897).
Only clue to Mary Cooper (mother's) death is a probate record indicating 21 Sep 1922 in the Bridgend area.
Thanks for everyone's help.

Just wondered if you were still on here - my husband is descended from Arthur's sister Mary Elisabeth Cooper

A free search of the 1939 register using that d-o-b finds
Harry A Cooper, 2.9.1878
living with
Janet Cooper, born 1883
in Newport C.B., Monmouthshire
Possible deaths
March 1950 Newport 8c 286
Cooper, Harry Arthur
age 71
and
June 1952 Newport 8c 214
