Title: 1st Battalion Seaforth Highlanders
Post by: carol-f on Wednesday 05 June 13 08:26 BST (UK)
I am trying to get a copy of my great grandfathers war records.
Fort George have given me the following info
5051 Private Kenneth McInroy
he seems to have been in south africa but when the Battalion goes to India in 1903 he does not appear. So I'm guessing his discharge must have been about then.                                                      I know he didn't die as a soldier as he and his family came to australia in 1912.
I would really like to find out what he did during his service.
Carol

his 4 page service record is available on Findmypast. He served in the Sudan amongst other places,,,,recieved the Egyptian and British Sudan medal,,with clasps for Khartoum and Atbara. If you google "the battle of Atbara" you will find out about this battle the Seaforths were involved in.  ;)
