I am looking for the descendants of Edward George HAZELL b 1883 in High Wycombe, Bucks. He emigrated to Canada in 1912 and married Emily Irene McPHERSON in Ontario Canada on 6 Apr 1916. I have no names of any children and he could have remarried an Olive QUEMBY after his first wife died in 1926. Any information on this family would be much appreciated

Births from less than 100 years ago are protected by Ontario's privacy laws. Your best bet for finding out whether they had any children may be to wait for the release of the 1921 Canada census which will hopefully be happening shortly.

Hi Ray - yes this is my man. His father George HAZELL was in fact married 3 times and I believe that Edward was the son of his first wife Rose Amelia CRUMP but on his marriage certificate (available on Ancestry) Edward has given his mother's name as Ellen ALDRIDGE (his father's third wife)! But all the dates tally and his date of emigration fits with a note on his UK military service record to say that he had been given permission to reside in Canada on 13 Apr 1912. (He had visited Canada several times previously.)
I should like to make contact with any living descendants of this family - looks as though I will have to wait for the release of the 1921 Canadian census to find out the names of any children.
I am not related to this family but am doing a wide ranging search into HAZELL families from South Bucks, England with the aim of trying to connect them to one another and to the branch from which my husband is descended. Many thanks for all your help so far, Sue

Just incase you haven't come across them - Attestation Papers - Edward George Hazell lived at Brock Street, Whitby, Ontario Canada.
Wife Mrs Emily Irene Hazell.

Anc tree says Edward and Irene had 2 daughters and a son.
One daughter was :- Elizabeth Jane Hazell - Birth 8 Oct 1926 in Huntsville, Ontatio and died 27 Mar 1973 in Hotel Dieu Hospital, Windsor. Burial :- Union Cemetery, Oshawa, Ontario.
A note says :- Legal Adoption by Herb and Lila Pringle. No further details.
Edward seems to have also had 2 daughter with Olive Quemby.

Edward George Hazell Born 1883 High Wycombe and aged 45 years 10 months crossed the border into the USA at Detroit, Michigan 3 Oct 1929 to seek work. in Middletown Ohio. His brother-in-law was Herb Pringle of Box 116, Whitby, Ontario, Canada. Edward had arrived Halifax Nova Scotia on the Austonia 1911. Occupation:- Mason.

Edward had previously been in the USA 1915 - Edward Hazell born 1883 England crossed the border Canada to USA, arriving Detroit, Michigan 24 Oct 1915. Bricklayer from Whitby. Looks like a manifest marking 505 - 533 Cleveland Ohio - File H 40 - 5 10-39 WFN CCC (Usually markings like this indicate a naturalization but it is a funny reference )

Hi Sandra - many thanks for all of this. I have tried making contact with the owner of the tree on Ancestry - but have not received a reply! What I hadn't noticed until your two posts were side by side was that Edward states that Herb PRINGLE was his brother in law - could this be the same person who adopted his daughter Elizabeth Jane b 1926. This was the same year that his first? wife Emily Irene McPherson died so perhaps her sister (it would have to be her sister to make the brother in law connection wouldn't it?) took the child under her wing and subsequently adopted her? Perhaps I should try looking at the PRINGLE family? Regards, Sue

Edward and Olive Hazell appear on Canada Voters List 1957 - Dorset Street. Durham. Ontario. Edward is a bricklayer. Olive is a clerk.
1963 Edward is retired and Olive is a Secretary - 49 Dorset Street. Durham. Ontario.
1965 Edward is retired and olive is a book-keeper - 21 King Street, Durham, Ontario.
1972 Edward retired and Olive P - Bookkeeper living at 21 King Street Northumberland Durham Ontario.

Canada Voters List 1957 - Herbert L Pringle - Superintendant and Mrs Lila Pringle at 507 Brock Street South Oshawa Whitby
There is a Mrs Lila Pringle on the Canada Voters List 508 Brock Street. Oshawa Whitby in 1972.
There is also another couple, surname Tucker living at that address.

Herbert Luther Pringle died in Oshawa on May 1, 1965, and is buried at Union Cemetery, Oshawa.

The parents of Lila and Emily -Alexander MacPherson - Birth 5 Jul 1846 in Quebec Died 10 Apr 1920 in Whitby, Ontario.
Elizabeth Jane Clarke - Birth 1 Nov 1852 in Ontario, Canada - Died 08 Jan 1936 in Whitby, Ontario.
A lot of the siblings seem to have died in Ontario.

Oh my goodness Sandra - you have been very busy on my behalf! Thank you so much. I have found a limited tree on Ancestry with the PRINGLE family - will try making contact with the owner and see if I can tackle it from this angle. Have to go out now but will look in detail later at all the information you have sent and see where else that leads. Currently marriages up to 1928 are available online. I believe marriages from 1929 and 1930 are available on microfilm but are not yet indexed. Hopefully they will be available sometime this year.
