Hi,
I am doing research on my mother in-law's family and I am having trouble.
Her father's name is John McIntosh b.1890 in Partick, Renfrewshire & died in Canada. He married in Canada.
His father was James McIntosh b.1847 in Nairn, d. 1915
His mother was Margaret Ross b. 1856 in Logie Easter, Rasshire, d.??
I have not been able to find a record of John McIntosh's birth. Also, I have not been able to find a record of James and Margaret's marriage and I cannot find any record of their individual families.
Thanks for any help,
Sandie

Hi Sandie
Partick is in Glasgow, Lanarkshire. Not Renfrewshire.
In 1891, the family are at 1 Wood Street, Govan Glasgow (which is in the Partick registration District):
James McINTOSH is 42 and Margaret is 35. The children are:
Margaret 6, Walter Ross 3, John 1 - all born Partick.
Scotland's People has following births - the only ones in Partick to fit:
Walter ROSS McINTOSH registered Partick Lanarkshire 1888
John ROSS registered born Partick Lanarkshire 1890

In 1901 they are in :Bellshill Rd , Laundry?, Bothwell, Lanarkshire
(its in the wider Glasgow area)
Head: Jas. McINTOSH is 54 b Nairn, Wife Margaret is 45 b Logie, Ross and children:
Maggie 16
Walter 13
John 11
Isa 9
James 6
Barnet 2 (boy)
This could be Margaret's birth:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FQ7Q-JX4
Margaret ROSS b 7 April 1855, Logie-Easter, Ross
Parents: Barnet ROSS & Margaret McLEOD
And her death:
Scotlands People index a Margaret McINTOSH, other surname ROSS, age 69 (born 1855)
Registered 1924 Hillhead district, Lanarkshire
And their marriage on Scotlands People Index:
Groom: James McINTOSH
Bride: Maggie ROSS
James was a Shoe/Boot maker and I think he is in Partick in 1881 as a Lodger.

Hi Ambly,
Thanks for your help! I wonder why the births would be registered under the mother's maiden name? However, I do think they are the correct people/dates.
I will check out Scotsland People to try moving forward (backwards really) on finding James McIntosh's family of origin.
Cheers,
Sandie :)
