Good evening
I am tracing my ancestor Rebecca Laverick. Her father was Thomas Laverick born c 1855 Shotton, Durham and I believe he was the son of Mathew Laverick born c 1820 USA and Jane.
I am hoping the 1861/71 census will confirm any siblings of Thomas.
Mathew died 1867 in Hetton-le-Hole and his wife, Jane, died 1861 Shotton Colliery.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
Kind regards
Amanda

Don't know if you know but Matthew is mentioned on the Durham Mining Museum website

1871 Census @ Low Downs, Hetton
Ann Laverick 50 Heads
Michael Laverick 49 should be 17, son
Thomas Laverick 15 son
John Laverick 13 son
Mary Jane Louleby 13 (Soulsby ?) step daughter
Sarah Laverick 11 daughter
Source Citation: Class: RG10; Piece: 4983; Folio: 5; Page: 4; GSU roll: 847435.
What appears to have happened is that Matthew remarried
Marriages Sep 1865
Laverick Matthew Houghton 10a 493
Soulsby Ann Houghton 10a 493
so in fact Ann is step mother to the children and Mary Jane is her own daughter

There is a baptism of Matthew Laverick in Longbenton 2 Jan 1820 s/o William and Jane, Benton Colliery
Doesn't mean he was born there, just baptised there.

Hi. You are on the correct family. John born 1902 was my grandma's brother. I guess you are the granddaughter of John and Nora.

Sorry I didn't get back to you but it's been a busy week. Tomorrow night I'll go through my tree and see what I've got for you. I have the Layfields going back quite a few generations. All but maybe a couple of Burnley Layfield families are related. I'll let you have the immediate family that I have so far.
Best wishes

Hi Amanda sorry late reply also would massively appreciate that if u cud do thank you I can't find my nanna nora layfeild married John laverick layfield was Nora foxcroft x

I'm not connected to this family in anyway, Jade Hadaway, but reading this thread I see from your posts that you are having trouble finding your nanna Nora Layfield, nee Foxcroft.
Nora appears to have been 11/12 years older than husband John Laverick Layfield (married 1955).
Nora Foxcroft's birth was registered in Dec.qtr.1920 Skipton - mothers maiden name Crabtree.
Nora Layfield bc.1921 died 28/10/2007 Barnoldswick - this ties in with the birth entry.
However, you might want to get Nora and John's marriage certificate to confirm the name of her father as there were 2 couples named Foxcroft/Crabtree marrying in Skipton just 3 years apart!
Harry Armistead Foxcroft married a Polly Crabtree 1916 - there is 1 public tree on Ancestry which shows Nora was their child
however
Irving Foxcroft married a Sarah Crabtree 1919 - there are 3 trees on Ancestry which show that Nora was their child!! I would lean towards this being correct as they have a full birthdate for Nora and show that she'd married and had a daughter (although no details of them given). Nora's birthdate 19/11/1920 and trees confirm she died 2007.
Hope this helps you.
