Title: Burial details of FREDERICK BOYCE/ BOICE in WEST PENNARD Somersetshire 1840 1850
Post by: boycefamilytree on Sunday 03 November 13 17:07 GMT (UK)
Burial details of FREDERICK BOYCE  / BOICE in WEST PENNARD Somersetshire 1840 1850 .

Frederick was found on the 1841 Census age 5 months as FRED BOYCE at Church Lane , West Pennard. Living with his parents William and Jane Boyce and next door to his grandparents Edward and Mary Boice / Boice  ??
He is Not found on the 1851 Census of Ditcheat with the family but another younger Frederic Boyce aged 2 is. So we pressume the first Fred had died quite young.

There was another child named Frederick Boyce born to the same parents in 1848 shown as Frederic Boice   , Christening/Baptism in Ditcheat 14 May 1848. So spelling may also be different to first child. as well.

Are his parents William and Jane Boyce buried with him or his grandparents Edward and Mary Boice / Boice  ??

Thanks Dave Boyce

Thanks to another researcher Mike Edwards who gave me loads of help with this, there has been a bit of mystery to my family.

There were name changes between Hore / Hoare and Boyce between 1790 and 1845.

Frederic was Registered and Baptised as Hore but shown as well as his parents as BOYCE on the 1841 census. He was later buried in 1842 as Frederic Hore age 2.

This is why certain records were hard to find.

I am just collating all the info together to try and make some sort of sense and a timeline story together.

Could it be that John Boyce and Betty / Elizabeth Hoare had an Illegitimate child in Margaret Hore Boyce  12 May 1784 and Baptised on 31 May 1784 t naming the father as John so they then got married shortly after on 20 June 1784 .

They then parted or divorced whilst she was pregnant with Edward.

When born 7 July 1792  Edward  simply took the name HOARE as his mothers Maiden name because they were parted and perhaps John living elsewhere.

John Boyce and Elizabeth Hoare then remarried yet again in Wedmore in 1813 .

Because John Boyce and Elizabeth known also as Betty were remarried again , Edward Hoare started to make changes to his name and their children's names over to to Boyce.
Although he seemed a bit confused by this by 1845 they all seem to be called Boyce.
