I've obviously pressed a button somewhere..........
The outside right edge of my screen page shows half of the grey scroll-down bar (Windows 7 by the way). So I can just about scroll-down that way. But I've lost the scroll-down arrow bottom right.
I've checked zoom (100%). What have I done, and how can I rectify it please?
-
Like you I thought zoom. I know you've checked it's 100% but have you tried the reset anyway?
.....View/Zoom/Reset
Could also be a legacy from a time you've resized the window? Try using the rectangle (middle of the 3 icons in the larger rectangle) at top right of screen to reduce / minimize / maximise - it might restore it.
Clear cache.
Just guessing, but one of these might help.
I also had a quick Google - it seems there was / is an issue with Chrome (which I've never used).
Have you tried another Browser? If nothing else, that will tell you if it's a setting on your computer or a setting on your browser you need to change.
Worth a try until someone comes up with a definitive solution for you.

Hi daval57, thanks for your suggestions.
tried to maximise/minimize but it just reduces the screen and no scroll-down arrow.
Apologies for being the technophobe I am, but how do I view/zoom/reset? To check the zoom I click on the 3-bar 'icon'? top right of screen (next to the bookmark star) but no option to reset from that.
-
Top left tool bar / menu bar.
Depends on your settings exactly how it appears to you.
If you see "File Edit View History Bookmarks Tools Help" - Click on View. drop down box appears - Click on Zoom. Another dropdown box - Click on Reset.

God, I'm hopeless at this. Top left of what? Home screen? :-[
-
:) Top left of any open window.
As I said, it depends on your settings, and as Midase just mentioned, it will also depend on which browser. That's why I suggested trying another browser.
Dave

Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, which one?
-
But what browser are you using?
Sorry midase, meant to reply earlier. It's Chrome.
-
:) Top left of any open window.
That shows Apps, followed by bookmarked sites. Is that right?
-
Top right you will see three horizontal bars. Click on this and you will see the Zoom settings.
-
Midase, as you seem to know Chrome and I don't, I'll leave to you.
Thanks.
Good luck Mrs T

Have done that, but I can't find an option to reset.
If I don't eat the dinner my OH has just dished up I am in deep trouble :-X Can I get back to you in about half an hour please? Many thanks!

Thanks Dave, and for your time & suggestions. I don't think they ought to let people like me loose on computers :-[

First off, is the Zoom site to 100%?
if so, then Press your F11 key to see if it will reset.
Failing that you will have to do the following:
Go to the same place and find Settings. Click to open and go to the bottom of the page. You will see Advanced Settings. At the bottom of this page you will see Restore Browser Settings. Click on the Reset. But this will set your browser to the default setting and you will lose any settings you have made including all site content etc. You will therefore have to start again with what will be a fresh copy of Chrome.

Hi, back again.
F11 didn't do anything.
Your next suggestion re setting the browser to default setting etc - no idea what this all means. Should I do it?
-
That is your choice. By doing so it will be like having installed the browser as new. Any settings you made will be back to the default. Sites that you visit frequently where you log in with passwords will all be reset. Basically you will be starting afresh.
-
OK - need to think about this.
Thank you so much for the time you have taken trying to help me, and I am truly grateful for your patience in trying to explain it all.

Can I jump in again. What Medase says is true, and it's a big step to take.
One possible work around there..... As I recall, when I set up Firefox as my browser it asked permission to transfer all my page settings, bookmarks etc.
You could try setting up Firefox, let it take your page settings, THEN delete Chrome. That's still going to have the same affect as what Medase suggests.
But then, you can download Chrome again, and transfer your settings back to the new refreshed Chrome, then delete Firefox (unless you want to keep it - if you have the space, there is no issue with having two (or 3 if you include IE) browsers stored in your computer. You just tell the computer which one you want as default.
Do you think that's a viable solution Medase?
-
Just found out that this is a bug after Chrome updated itself. They are working on a fix apparently. You might like to try Firefox.
A good idea from daval57
-
Thanks for the news Midase - my options now are to either wait and see re Chrome fixing the problem, or to go with Dave's suggestions re Firefox.
Thank you again, and an equally huge thanks and appreciation to Dave :)
Bless you both,

Having a wee giggle to myself..... go back to the 4th para of my 1st response.
Perhaps we could have saved ourselves some posts! :P
-
Sorry, I mean 5th.

There's only three paragraphs of your first response!

I was referring to this part of the comment in my first response..... :)

Sorry dava157, I got confused with the original OP :-[
-
:)
Just hoping Mrs T gets it sorted.
So frustrating when something that should be simple to correct takes quite a lot of effort to resolve.
-
I guess that for us it would be quite simple if we were sat in front of the computer. Distance instruction can be quite painful!
-
Hi again Midase & Dave -
Well it turns out it's not me being paranoid about my lack of technological expertise/what button did I press wrongly etc etc etc.
You are quite right - it's a Chrome bug and should be rectified accordingly. All your comments/advice were more than backed up by the IT manager at my workplace today. It's not a huge problem, and I shall use the scroll-down options of either bar or mouse until Chrome sort it out.
Again, I am most grateful for your help. Thank you. :-*
