Title: Thomas Parry Heighway of Clun
Post by: robinhelstrom88 on Thursday 20 February 14 04:32 GMT (UK)
Hi there,

I am curious to find out if anyone is able to tell me anything about Thomas Parry Heighway b. 1811 in Clun, Shropshire, England. I have been able to locate him in 1851, 1871, and 1881 census and he lived at Cockford Hall for a number of those censuses.

I have been able to located children: Thomas F. Heighway, William Henry Heighway, Mary Heighway, Elizabeth Heighway, and Richard Heighway but have not been able to find reference to a wife anywhere or any parents for that matter.

My connection is through his son William who married a Mary, last name unknown, and had children: Thomas Parry, Elizabeth Mary, and Martha Sophia. They eventually wound up in the Aymestry, Herefordshire area before Elizabeth married Richard Neighbour and immigrated to Canada. Not having a lot of luck going forward on those left in ENG either.

Would appreciate meeting up with any family or interested parties as I have lots of info to share on all the family here in Canada!

Robin

Hi it is interesting therefore re no wife, that not only on the 1851 census, but also on the 1841 HO107/919/ 1/28 / 16 he has in the household as housekeeper a Martha Francis!

PS in the case of the 1851, I note all the children have a middle initial "F" I think all the births re Freebmd will be surname Frances/Francis possibly?

Hi again, Thomas Parry Heighway was not born in Clun, he resided there, here is his baptism:-

Thomas Parry Heighway baptised 1st October 1810 Llandinam, Montgomeryshire Father Thomas Heighway of Clunn and wife Mary

His parents married 23rd September 1808 Llandinam Mary was a Mary Tilsley ( she had a middle name which could possibly be something like Tobias)??
I have found a possibe baptism for Mary as Mary Sobieski or Tobieski Tilsley 15th April 1789 Aberhafesp, Montgomeryshire Father John occ Reverend Mother Mary (John I believe was the Vicar of Lllandinam)

Also how/where the Parry middle name originated:-

Baptism John Parry Tilsley 28th July 1791 St Llonio. Llandinam Father John occ Reverend Mother Mary

Oh my god! Thanks so much guys lol. Since I started this hobby in high school I have always got so much help from message boards I'm always amazed. I will take some time to take a look over this and see if I can expand.

It it is so greatly appreciated as this has been a ancestor that has stumped the hell out of me for a very long time.

William and Mary were my great great grandparents (I have a photo of the two of them). I couldn't find any details of Mary's mother. I know her father was Thomas Heighway and, like all her siblings, she had a middle initial F. There was a maid in the house called Martha Francis. Can't find any details of her mother. The is a story in the family that her mother was one of two sisters that came from Europe - possibly Poland or Scandinavia. Interested to speak with anyone who can shed some light.

Sorry it's been a while since I've checked back. I got married last year and changed my email address (finally) but I've since updated my profile again with a working address. :)

ML123 I wish I had more information to share with you but they are all new to me. I'll keep plugging along when I've got the time and see what I can find. Here's crossing my fingers.
