Hello,
John R. SCOLLAY, was one of four survivors from the sinking of the Bay Fisher in February 1941.
His place of birth was Orkney, born around 1918, and was living at No4 Sleigh Drive, Edinburgh in 1940.
Would like to find a picture of him and pass on details of his time on the Bay Fisher to family members.
Many thanks,
Brian

It's been a while but an excellent article in this months edition of "The Scottish Genealogist" features the daughter of the Rev' Robert Scollay of Hunton, minister of Stronsay 1713-1763.
"The Family of Anna Scollay" by Margaret F Brown, she was staying at the home of the Stewarts of Brugh in Orkney when a Danish registered ship "Christianus Septimus!" captained by Captain James Wemyss of Carriston anchored offshore and James took a fancy to the ministers daughter and up-anchored along with Anna. A marriage was conducted later by the Rev' Walter Traill, this ripping yarn involving piracy when Wemyss fought off seven vessels in the Straits of Molacca etc' is well worth a read!

I have made contact with Bruce from Canada, who has John Robert Scollay in his family tree on Ancestry. John Robert Scollay was born 17 July 1918,at Bisgoes, Island of Westray, Orkney. He married in 1940 at Leith, and died 26 Nov 1993 in West Lothian.
Thank you to everyone who replied to my question.
Stay safe,
Tarnwater

The names are the wrong way around for the two men on the left of the picture. John Robert, Fireman, is the young man, born 1918. The man on the far left is Stephen McCallion, Bosun, born about 1885, fron cairncastle, Antrim, N.I.
