My search is hindered with no date of birth or full name for Maggie.

Have you looked on Scotlands People for the second marriage? Copies of marriages up to 1938 can be downloaded

Alternatively - a copy of her 1982 death cert will give you her maiden name

There is a marriage for Thomas Hamilton McKnight and Maggie Boyd / Kelly / McKay 1948 Stranraer , Wigtown.
That might match up with a death for Maggie McKnight(other surnames Boyd / Kelly) 1981 Ayr , Ayr born c1896.

I'm afraid that Scotlandspeople is not much help as I can't afford the credits at the moment.(I am rather disgusted that our information,which we give them in the first place has a price,go figure)
However,rant over,I have a little info of my own from family members,(after 7 o'clock on the phone I might add) :) :)
Margaret Boyd is named on Thomas McKnights death certificate,of which I now have a copy.
I have been through some very good work on the Boyds in these forums,but can't match anything up.There is also a history of Boyd in Connecticut very good,but still no matches for me.
Perhaphs the passing of Maggie is 1981 in AYR,not '82 as I was assuming,is correct.And,I suppose it's possible that Thomas and Maggie were married in 1948,that would make Thomas around 71 72 :o
Could you let me know how you came across the info you found? I am curious now about the Kelly McKay connection.

I'm sorry ev but the site is frying me,I can't get free searches working for me.
But that doesn't stop the info coming in.
I can now show Maggie in this light;
Margaret(Maggie) Jane Boyd
William McKay 1st Husband.Apparently lived Agnew Crescent Stranraer before emigrating.
Thomas Hamilton McKnight 2nd Husband.Born Kirkcolm 1876 / Died Belmont Road Stranraer 1957.
William(Wullie)Smyth 3rd Husband.Lived Glebe Street Stranraer.Perhaps died around mid 1960's.
Can anyone discredit,substatiate or add?

William Smith / Maggie Jane Boyd(or Kelly , or McKnight) marriage 1958 , Stranraer , Wigtown.
Not sure where the Kelly surname fits in :-\

You would really need the certificates to prove any of the information found.

Perhaps you should try "Wigtownshire Pages " another great site like "Rootschat " it is for people researching the Wigtownshire area.
Someone might be able to help or do a look up for a death notice for Maggie in the local paper
"Wigtownshire Free Press ".This might hopefully lead to more information.
As you have an exact date of death for William and Maggie you could also consider contacting the local council offices at Blackparks in Stranraer they hold all the burial records for the area.
When I was researching a few years ago there was no fee but things can change .

thanks very much for your work on this for me and other viewers that it may benefit.i know only documents will confirm everything,but it does seem to confirm the majority of my thinking on all this.
your help is beyond thanks for what I now know.
there is a Euphema (Boyd presumably) that married a William Kelly,and a possibility that this could be Margaret Boyds mother.If so,this would link the Kelly that you are seeing.
