I have been looking for Clarborough Hall and asking around and cannot find any knowledge of it or any information - there is Welham Hall - Welham and Clarborough are often linked together
Only information I can find on Clarborough is on the Village hall
Could you post any information you have on the Hall - it may help find a picture

The mystery maybe solved one day ;D

Strangely,Google maps show a building at the East of the lake/large pond, where the house is/was, but it is well hidden by trees, and the name on the wooden gate entrance is unreadable.

Hi,
There is one picture of the Hall on Bassetlaw Museum Retford,
http://www.bassetlawmuseum.org.uk/index.asp?page=photo&mwsquery={Identity number}={RETBM : 2003.125}
I don't know if that is any help.... maybe worth contacting them?
Best wishes,

Just to comfirm it did or does .... :)
Records show that the estate, was bought by an Arthur Robert Garland of Welham Hall
from the deceased estate of John Henry Hutchinson of Clarborough Hall
acres117.3.16 along with Well House Cottage and garden for the sum of £3200 on in 1910.
He then sold the cottage and garden to Fred Anderson on 1910 for £130.
This was subsequently bought by the late Mr Eric Durham on 1955, later to be purchased by the current owner, Mr Whelan, in 1975.

To me this reads that Well House Cottage and garden was bought by Mr Durham and then sold to the current owner Mr Whelan
There is an article written within the last couple of years by Mr Whelan and it seems he lives in Well House Cottage??? So still wondering about Clarborough Hall??

I live in Clarborough and the hall is on the A620 and is just after the railway as you come from Retford to Clarborough. The house is set back from the road but is still visible from the road.

Sorry, brain is all over the place at the moment but I have done a fair bit of local history work around Clarborough ( mostly to do with the pubs!!!) and am a member of a local history group. The local councillor for the village is in the process of putting a book of the history of Clarborough and Welham together. There maybe something in there about the hall but as I say is still in the early stages.

Hi, If you are still looking for Clarborough Hall, I have friends who live there!!
-
My dad used to live there, he dug the lake out himself using a Poclain (JCB) he had in the garden.
-
Hi, anyone still looking for info on the original Clarborough Hall? My family has a watercolour painting of it, painted by my great-aunt May Vaux (nee Atkinson). She and my grandmother Madge grew up at Clarborough Hall. I'd like to post the picture if anyone is interested..? Is there a way to post it here besides as a (very small!) profile pic?
